Do You Have the Sale Attitude of There’s Nothing Holding Me Back?

Recently I heard a song entitled “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” The title struck a chord within me especially during this COVID situation.

Here in AZ real estate is designated as an essential business. Realtors in many other states did not receive that designation.

Regardless of the designation or lack thereof, now is the time to reinforce your sales attitudes of “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back.” Through Zoom and other technologies, we can still gather together and continue to do business.

During this somewhat less than crazy busy time, there is now time for professional development to improve your knowledge and overall sales skills.  Tomorrow I am taking a course to be certified as a Veteran Relocation Specialist. Where I live, there are a lot of veterans because the cost of living is far less than in other areas of AZ as well as other states.

Also, I am working on my Broker’s pre-licensing classes. This series is offered online and works with my still somewhat erratic schedule.

I have always believed there is nothing holding me back except me. Where there is the will, think attitude, there is a way.

Zig Ziglar defined “attitude as a habit of thought.”

  • Do you have the sales attitude of perseverance?
  • Do you have the attitude of resilience?
  • Do you have the attitude of self-leadership?

Grant Schneider  and I are of the same mindset in committing personal and professional goals to writing. Writing is important and more importantly is the concept of planning. President/General Dwight Eisenhower said:

“Plans (think goals) are worthless, but planning is everything.”

This month the Dirt Road Real Estate work family (we no longer use the work team) had a meeting in which we shared our sales goals for 2021 and our current sales results in 2020. Right now, in spite of COVID, in spite of the AZ lockdown, all work family members were ahead of their sales and revenue goals for 2020.

United each work family member has the essential sales attitude to keep going when the going gets rough. Even with real estate being an essential business in AZ, this does not mean the going hasn’t been rough. Lending firms were overwhelmed with re-financing and new loan applications created incredible delays with underwriting. Appraisers also had more transactions than they could handle on a timely basis as did Title firms. Then add in home inspectors and other trades, being able to close a sales transaction within the desired time frame continues to be difficult.

Having an attitude of "There’s Norhing Holding Me Back,” is a sales attitude that takes time to develop. If you don’t have that attitude or have allowed that attitude to wane, now is the time to develop or strengthen that attitude because you have three (3) months before this year ends and next year starts.
