Good morning, Patricia... I've seen so many people burn their bridges both in the corporate world and in the real estate professional simply because they don't stop and think about what they are doing or saying. And once that bridge is burned... it's hard to cross back.

Barbara Todaro - I really like your comment and especially the words you chose, such as "super saturated with inspiration." When it comes to staying healthy, Nature mentors and guides me to thinking clearer. I could think of no better place to go this Fall for inspiration than the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth. It was as if, I didn't want to leave.
I'm so glad you found inspiration in my writing. Thank you, for sharing!

Nina Hollander - I agree. And it's not just business in the Corporate World or real estate profession, it happens in families too. When someone burns a bridge, they ignite themselves. Once the flames go up, it may be too little or too late to repair. But... it could happen. Relationships can be rebuilt but it takes an enormous amount of swallowing ones pride and the willingness to overcome whatever weakend the support that kept their bond together. Overall, lessening the probability to burn a bridge begins with listening. Really, really, really listening and knowing support can't be top heavy. A bridge needs to be balanced.

I really do appreciate your friendship and understanding. Thank you.
Keeping our own mind and body in healthy shape is primary in our stressful business. Anyone who thinks it's easy needs to walk in our shoes for awhile. We need to keep our clients on an even keel while we solve whatever a transaction throws our way, even a pandemic. I go swimming every morning and it's amazing how many problems I solve during that time. And I start every day energized from taking care of ME first.

How true, and how wonderful your photos supoport your message. Our job is so often to act as the buffer to the emotions, allowing us to take the hit, so they can rest, knowing they are being protected and looked after. I am glad you took time to look after yourself and enjoy the gardens. It looks delightfully restful

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® - Without good health, one can bankrupt their own careers. It is extremely important to do something good and refreshing after every closing. Stress is the invisible clothing we wear everyday and wearing it in layers over time can be debilitating or fatal.
I like the fact that you swim every morning and that you know, it's an energizing habit that always puts you in a better frame of mind, body, and soul. Thanks for sharing!

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - Thank you for complimenting me on my photos and recognizing how I tried my best to support my message. That really means a lot to me!
"Take the hit!" you got that right! That wasn't written in any requirements to be licensed, textbook, or course materials. I learned long ago, if I don't take care of myself, nobody else will. Emotional healing should take precedence or the whole body reacts over time. It could be immediate. Or it could happen over time. I know, you know that too!

Hi Patricia,
I find peace in gardens too and Japanese Gardens are definitely among my favorites. Somehow gardens have the effect of making us slow down and breathe, leaving other thoughts behind us... or at least push them aside for a bit.
When back at work... building and maintaining trust is an ongoing task. It takes time to build trust but can be lost in a second.
The pandemic has tested us in so many ways to rise above! You are obviously passing the test with flying colors.

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP what a lovely, inspirational post, packed full of truths. Going to the Japanese Gardens is a gift you gave yourself and well worth the trip. I understand that feeling of 'not wanting' to leave. That's kind of how I always felt when I started to go down the mountain and start the day. Breath.....take in the beauty of nature and feel the goodness. Your thoughts around clients, real estate, working with all the other folks needed - is like bouncing a lot of balls at once. Sounds tiring but you've managed to so with strength. That's why people trust you. You're in this for the long road both personally and in business. Fantastic entry for the October Challenge. Thank you!

Hi Patricia! As I read this, I am coming in from doing a little gardening after work. Gardens offer a serenity that you simply can't find anywhere else.
First off, I LOVE the photos and secondly, the quotes throughout this entire post are spot-on. I am all about forgiveness so, I try not to allow anyone to permanently burn that bridge with me but, sometimes there's that element of remembrance that is difficult to push past.
Hope you have an amazing weekend!

Carol Williams - I've always found joy in a garden. I can think of no better place to feel peace than exploring what a beautiful garden has to offer. There I find the unspoken word speaks louder than voices.
Thank you, so much for such a nice comment. May you always live in peace and happiness.
Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS AZ Top Banana! - Your positives vibes are always appreciated. The Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth are very tranquil and a special place. I can't even imagine how many hands have contributed to it's growth and continuous beauty giving us the opportunity to take back our lives at times when we need it most. I'll take a day at the Gardens any day over a day at the spa or the movies.
I understand how exhilarated hiking and mountain climbing feels. I hope you are doing well and that when the mountain calls, you are able to do the things you love to do. There is some powerful magic up there when reaching towards the summit and an unbelievable feeling of accomplishment when you are going down hill nearing the finish line.
In reference to "bouncing a lot of balls at once," that is an excellent analogy! That's exactly how I felt. You just can't give up or let your clients down. If there's one thing the pandemic taught us is to be humble and to help one another because people need people and no man/woman can do it all alone. But when it's over, you have to be good to yourself. Everyone in the real estate industry should try to remember we dwell not just in a home built by builders, but in all the goodness and beauty of God's green earth.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I feel so lucky that you carved a little time to swing by here on ActiveRain when I know, you have so much to do at home and in business. I feel proud that we connected when we did and especially blessed we had a little bit of time at the CRS Convention when you came to Texas.
Whether you are helping someone build or buy, pruning the hedges or planting flowers in your own garden, moving, rearranging furniture, adjusting schedules, you are simply amazing and always appreciated.
As the sun rises and sets may you always be blessed.

John Henry, Florida Architect - Finding a place where you find peace, quiet, and tranquility outside of the home reinforces your sense of belonging. This lock-down and the pandemic has changed me. I believe others feel the same. We need to be connected in this world; not isolated. Where you can walk outside in beauty, you renew your hope and connections to the goodness in nature.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

Awe, thank you, Kathy Schowe! Your comment was deeply felt and appreciated. I love to take photographs and creatively express what I see and how I feel. Letting me know I gave you a 'peaceful backdrop,' is a highly paid compliment! It gave me a great big smile.
Although I always knew never to take anything for granted, I never really experienced anything like being locked down because of a pandemic. It's no longer just a word in the history books or the dictionary.
May you have the strength and courage to breathe all the beauty you can without stress or anxiety.
As for breathing in fresh air - well being able to get out and find a place where you can take your mask off is the greatest feeling in the world!
very true words...a dear friend - an agenbt of man yyears - does not seem to understand this. He constantly yet seemingly unintentionally, blows up the bridges he builds. Loved the photos BTW

Paddy Deighan JD PhD - Blowing up bridges never champions change. In this business, we need to build bridges with our colleagues as much as we need clients. Whether they are new, repeat, or referrals, the people we work with must have confidence in our abilities to get along with others.
I'm delighted to know you loved my pictures too! I had such a nice day. I hope you do too!
Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - Therein lies the evidence of success - maintain and strengthen the bridges we create in life and never stop building!
Thank you for that wonderful comment! May you be blessed.

What a beautiful post and I love the photos. Yes, it is so important to build bridges, instead of burning them. Hi, Kat Palmiotti! I love to travel and take photographs! Locally, when I need to recharge, the Japanese Gardens is one of my favorite day trips. Like many people, the government lock-down due to the pandemic took a toll on me. A body just can’t curl up and do nothing. I’m like the energy rabbit who needs to keep going, taking care of business, etc.!
I am so thankful, I finally got that property listed and then, I went full throttle! The Japanese Gardens was my recharging station, a retreat for the body, mind and soul. It was there that I filled up with positive energy.
I am wishing you a very joyful weekend with lots of positive energy too!

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - Even today, it's hard to believe we are already into the month of October. As humans, we have become attuned to the rhythm's of the seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. We align our business plans to the cycles of life and the four seasons, including family gatherings, travel, annual check-ups, car and/or home maintenance. To go dormant in business in the spring was surreal. My clients and I were so ready to go, but you know the rest of the story.
You're right about how important it is to find your "happy place!" The surest way to lose your self-worth is to not have any business, no where to go, and your only hope is to find that darn toilet paper! That's crazy!!!
I was born to serve others with my abilities to find homes for people who needed representation because they needed to sell or move! To finally have that opportunity, but still not knowing what's next? Well, that was very eerie. Once I got over the fear of COVID it eliminated and freed up my abilities to control what was within my control, and that made all the difference.
Out there in Austin, you are positively an Angel!
Brian England - Awe.... thank you, so much! I am thankful I was raised to have structure and discipline at home and through my education. But I always had opportunities to have fun and settle down when I was exhausted.
Having no flow, no energy because the pandemic cut me off from doing my business, was very hard on me but I just stayed focused on what I needed to accomplish. You'll never know, how grateful I was to list and sell and succeed. The Japanese Gardens was the reward I gave myself. It was such a blessing.

When I was a little girl, one of the first songs I learned by heart was "You Gotta Have Faith, Hope, and Charity!" That really is the way to live successfully!!!
That darn pandemic; then what happened next with non-peaceful protests and violence was and may still be a threat to the human race. If I could find a slice of Heaven from a beautiful place like the Japanese Gardens, then I'm taking it, embracing it, snapping photos of all its beauty and vicariously I know that peace, tranquility, and joy is worth it and possible.
What the world needs now more than ever is to build bridges and not take what doesn't belong to you or take advantage of other people.
AndreaBFerreira CRS - SRS - CLHMS - May you be blessed always! I'm very happy to know you took the time to read and enjoy all the beauty I wanted to share with others. And may there be, peace on earth, good will towards man/woman/children everywhere.
Hello Patricia, I love your quotes and they are all so true for me. Many of my clients over the years became friends and we remain friends today. So much trust goes into transacting real estate - a great formula for building lasting bridges.

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist - Thank you, so much! I appreciate your comments.
The foundation of trust begins in the home. We learn quickly who can be trusted; who can't. Trust is golden and should never be taken for granted. The dynamic of trust carries over and in business it's the golden key to succeed. When clients know you are trustworthy, the greatest form of gratitude comes in repeat business or referrals. You're absolutely right, Kathleen, "so much trust goes into transacting real estate." Friendship can't be bought, it has to be earned and the rewards for "building lasting bridges," is more valuable than gold.
Patricia, Beautiful story, lovely photos, just what we love about you.

I loved this post Patricia. Friendships, real friendships, mean a lot. It is important that we take care not to burn bridges when we encounter people and/or friends that don't agree with us.

Hannah Williams - Friendship is earned. And when it's earned because of the services you provide to your clients, it's well earned! I love that you shared you are still friends with one of your repeat clients who moved to FL and that you check in on each other regularly. Now that is TRUE friendship!
Sondra Meyer: - True friends are not superficial. They know nobody is perfect but you'll have their back and they'll have yours. To earn the right to be a special friend means a lot. Sometimes, there's no rhyme or reason why people come into our life. In business, people who become friends and stay friends is a triumphant return on an investment!
I hope you will also have an "awesome week!"
Tom Bailey - Admittedly, representing (or not representing) friends can be a true test of friendship. As we know not every transaction turns out great and that can be terrifying when friends are involved.
Working with friends is tricky--a delicate balance I think. You handled it well, and thanks for the lovely photos!
