House Sold Now What's Next?

Going through the process of selling your home has been a roller coaster ride full of emotions.  Now that negotiations are over and you have a closing date scheduled its now time to focus in on packing up your home for the move.

You pick up your phone, call some of your friends and try your best to bribe them into helping you move in the next few weeks.  Instead of getting an ok you get hit with more excuses than a landlord trying to collect rent during coronavirus.  What do you do now?Do you then pull your hair out, delete all of their numbers from your phone or go to PLAN B?

The PLAN B in this situation would be to get to googling to find the best and most affordable moving company in your city.  That's right it's hiring time.  I was told by a wise person that if you don't have the time or the means to break your back, pay to break someone else's.

In this case your friends and family have let you down so you have to find a way to get it done.  I live in Memphis Tn and recently had the task of doing just as I stated above and the experience turned out great.  All of the furniture arrived at its location and nothing was broken.

In this post I want to give out a few tips on finding the right company for your move.  If you chose to sell your home to Ivy Vine Investments or someone else I want to help you with the process of finding a good moving company.  At the end I'll share the name of the company that we used here in Memphis and you can check them out.

Pick Three Moving Companies

Give yourself at least 3 options to review.  You never want to go with the first company that you come across. Being able to look at the Pro's and Con's of each business is important.  You also want to be able to compare prices, reputation and availability between the different companies.

Check Out Reviews

After narrowing down your three selections go to sites like google and yelp and check out the reviews left by customers.  This will give you a chance to read the experiences that other customers have had using each particular moving company.

Make Sure The Company Is Insured

The last thing you want to do is load all of your valuable belongings in a truck whose company isn't insured.   If for some reason, there is an accident and some of  your items are damaged you need peace of mind that you are covered.

Methods Used To Pack Your Items

Make sure to find out the type of packing materials that each company uses.  Moving blankets, dolly's and packing boxes should be available and used by the company you pick to move your items.

Review of Moving Company We Used In Memphis Tn

2 men and a truck

For a move that we recently had in October we went with the moving company Two Men And A Truck.  They were awesome and the service they provided was A+.  All of the furniture was packed securely and arrived in perfect condition.  The workers were also very courteous and nice and did an awesome job.  I will definitely be using them again!

Deciding to sell your home is stressful enough.  Hopefully with this information, it will ease the process and MOVE YOU in the right direction.

Until next time be safe, wash those hands and enjoy your weekend.

Good advice - my client was moving to Palm Beach. Her furniture ended up in Palm Springs. Oops!

Hello Chris - proper preparation comes in handy.  Having the right moving experience is kinda like the icing on the cake.  If it is good, it is delicious and quite satisfying.  When the end result is not so favorable - well, it can leave a bad taste in your mouth.

The right moving company is paramount. Fortunately, we haven't had a terrible experience - nor have our clients.

Hi Chris,
I was fortunate to find a good moving company many years ago and have never used anyone else.  I know for sure I will NEVER try to use family and friends for such an important (and difficult) task. It is truly a job for professionals.

Hi Chris great post.  Always so important to find a reputable mover that is honest and charges what the bid is....and not tack on a bunch of other fees.

Hi Chris- I've moved many times and your advice is spot on. Our first moves were corporate moves and they always wanted us to get 3 bids from companies. Don't go for the least expensive either.
