Rocky Dickerson thanks, Rocky. I have two "pet" causes... animal shelters and hunger awareness. I do everything I can to spotlight events relating to these in the Charlotte metro area.

Barbara Todaro me too, Barbara. I was a Girl Scout through the 8th grade. I won first place for three straight years for selling the most cookies. I appreciate your point about everyone seeming to have food back then... in the 1950's $25 covered the grocery bill for our family of four for a week... and we didn't go without meat and we had no school lunches... we brought our own lunches to school. Times have really changed.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... I've always wanted to be a Girl Scout leader... somehow the opportunity never presented itself, but I'm still a big supporter. Your story reminds me of being offered a job at the UN as I was finishing up my masters degree in NYC. They were offering a princely sum of $125/week! I realize it was 1971, but... no one could live on that in NYC even back then.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 thanks, Sheila... I'm always totally gob-smacked by the number of people in our country who are food insecure. Really boggles the mind.

Endre Barath, Jr. good morning, Endre... I'm aware that the Girl Scouts have added to their cookie repetoire since I was a Girl Scount in the 1950's. We had only four selections. But chocolate thin mints were around then and still are today and still remain my favorite.
