I’ve so enjoyed reading the entries into Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS AZ Top Banana! and Carol Williams’ October Challenge 2020…and thank you both for your endless dedication to this amazing community!
I was reminded of the Spanish proverb in the title when I was told by someone in a challenging business, “There’s nothing I can do to help my business right now - it’s not worth the fight.”
The person who shared this was not someone in our business but, someone who really didn’t feel that fighting for their local business wasn't worth it, as they had been seriously impacted by the shut-downs. Shortly thereafter, I read Anna & Carol’s challenge proposal and this quote came to mind.
One of our AR members (Marie Story) decided to host a ‘coffee’ meeting AR members for ½ hour via ZOOM conference several months ago. Those of us who participated, fell in love with the experience. The meetings morphed into social hours that included an informal 'lesson' with many of our AR members contributing.
These meetings have not only grown in experience & knowledge but, also in attendance. Each week now, we have wonderful presentations and I can honestly say that I have never left a meeting without taking away at least a nugget of information - I learn something every single meeting!
The best part - we have a loyal group who enjoy seeing one another each Tuesday at 2PM EST. I love that everyone involved welcomes newcomers with open arms. I LOVE THIS GROUP - I look forward to Tuesdays each week! This has been one of the best things for me, both educationally and mentally during the challenging times we have been in!
So, for those who dislike ZOOM conferences, I challenge you to attend one of these meetings. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed and you may not even notice you’re in a virtual ‘room;’ you’ll feel like you’re sitting down together with a group of wonderful friends. What a great way to beat the 'quarantine blues' each week!
There are so many benefits to adding this ONE HOUR EACH WEEK to your calendar and scheduling around it. You’ll be glad you did!
