“The best of all the first fruits and of all your special gifts will belong to the priests. You are to give them the first portion of your ground meal so that a blessing may rest on your household.”
What the bible is talking about as far as a tithe and a first fruit could be covered in much more depth about their similarities and differences. For now especially if you are newer to the idea to giving a tithe in the form of 10% of your income what is most helpful for you to know from this verse is to give your first and best to the Lord!
Some people wait to see if they have money left over and then try to give what they have to the Lords work, but often they run out and are able to give little or nothing at all. Sometimes unsuspected bills and repairs come up. Other times there is a “sale” where they just had to have a certain on sale item, instead of giving to the Lords work.
However, giving the first and the best is what is going to cause the blessing to rest on your household. For example if its bill paying time, your first check you can write out is to your chosen place for your spiritual gifts such as your local church. If you get a bonus, or some surprise gift of money you can tithe from that extra blessing. You could set up automatic giving online to your church so the money automatically is given. Don’t wait to see if there are leftovers for the Lord, give your first and your best!
LORD HELP ME TO PUT YOU FIRST FINANCIALLY AND I KNOW YOUR GOODNESS AND BLESSING WILL REST ON MY HOUSEHOLD BECAUSE ITS A PROMISE FROM YOU!
