Walk On By. . .

Walk On By. . .

I think I can be relatively focused.  Emphasis on relatively

I find early walks the best.  For me.  I especially like early mornings as the sun rises for the day.

Not as many people.  Fewer distractions.  Traffic from cars and crowds aren't typically a major issue but remaining mindful of the coming and goings of vehicles is wise.

Walking provides another opportunity to observe.  Some observations are momentary while others are worthy of more than a glance.

It's a chance to enjoy and learn.  It's an experience that can become quite sensory involving each or all of the five basic types.

People think

that their world will get smaller

as they get older.

My experience is just the opposite.

Your senses become more acute.

You start to blossom.

                                                                       Yoko Ono

I believe in a long,

prolonged derangement of the senses in order

to obtain the unknown.

                                                                       Jim Morrison

If my senses don't feel right then I don't do it.

                                                                       Mel B

Morning Michael, you would not want to go for a walk here this morning, it is 14 degrees outside, with a light layer of snow.  BRRR

Morning walks are quite special - there is something about greeting a new day. And yes, the quiet. And Yoko is right on with this message - at least we hope most of us see aging in that way.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - my singing is best when practiced solo and to myself.  I hope your day is special as well.

Kat Palmiotti - I typically wake quite early but I wait until the sun peeks its way to a bit more activity but it's still rather empty by comparison to later.

Sharon Lee - I have tried the late afternoon/early evening walk routine.  I do it on occasion but not as regularly as the morning.  Good for you.  Enjoy your time in Arizona.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I liked Yoko Ono's quote.  It is a nice message in my opinion.

Hi Michael - I'm a morning person and love being able to wake up with the earth and nature. I do think our senses get better as we get older because we have more experiences to relate to the different sensory hits we''re exposed to. And the older I get, the more I notice and appreciate the small things I see.

Hello Michael Jacobs - the favorite part of my day is early morning ... before the noise of the day begins.  I so enjoy quiet reflective time ... and then there it is again at the end of my day when the noise of the day quiets down.

Kathy Streib - and in Houston you don't have to worry about Gator Dodging either while you enjoy those walks.

Rocky Dickerson - indeed!

First Michael, I love the title - and the song, which I am singing to myself now!

Secondly, what an adorable picture - oh my gosh!

Lasly, I've never been a fan of Yoko Ono but, I do love that quote.

Have a great week ahead, Michael!

Morning Michael.

I haven't taken a morning, or for that matter an afternoon walk, in such a long time.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I can understand that.  Even when we may not prefer or even care for the person, we can appreciate the words they expressed.  And I am sure we can each find those people in our personal rolodex that we like but can't fathom the idea of agreeing with something they might say.

James Dray - I have enjoyed it for years although not as consistently as maybe I should.  Finding what works best for each of us is a good goal.    When that is achieved, I might say "Mission Accomplished".

Besides those early morning walks having less traffic, less people and less noise..the health benefits of walking are excellent!

WE have been walking every day...rain or shine. I am sad to announce that we missed two days in a row this week. I'm not happy about it, but we got back on the road today and hope to get back into the swing of it.

I love these quotes and just must, must, must get back to walking.  I make the excuse that the summer heat, up through last week in the 100's, keeps me from walking...but today it was 36.  No excuses.  Thanks for the inspiration

Hi Michael:

I enjoy walking as well, but have not been doing so consistently. I particularly liked Yoko Ono's quote.

And I couldn't help but think about Dionne Warwick when I saw your title!

Sharon Tara - I am pretty consistent walking seven days a week but I no longer say that because if I happen to miss a day, I would feel defeated.  No one needs that kind of self-guilt trip.

Cara Marcelle Mancuso - that's a dramatic temperature swing. Yikes!

Jeff Dowler, CRS - that quote seems to be a favorite based on comments received here.  I like it too.
