The Covid-19 pandemic continued to erode air travel over the summer, pushing United Airlines into a third-quarter loss of $1.84 billion, compared with a profit of $1 billion in the year-earlier period.

The Chicago-based airline said it had a loss of $6.33 per share, or a loss of $8.16 per share when adjusted for one-time gains, which missed the $7.63 per share loss forecast by analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research.
