My Real Estate business is in an area where we are basically land locked. What I mean is that you must tear down a home or a building to build a new. The Real Estate Market on the Peninsula is not what you read in the papers about California. The areas in California that you read about are in the Northern part of the state where there is land and lots of it. They are hundreds of developments that were started and stopped because of the sub prime sitiuation. But, not so on the Peninsula. We are strong and thriving. For example: A home was listed for sale at $1,999,000 last year and didn't sell. The same home went on the market a month ago for the $1,999,000 and SOLD in the Menlo Oaks area of Menlo Park for $2,500,000. That's the Peninsula.
Real Estate is LOCAL. I am so glad you posted this. Local area experts, have to inform their area about what is happening there, not the media broad brush. Thanks

I am glad your market is strong. There are so many areas like ours that are losing 30 -40% of the value.
Gail, there are so many articles that purport to be news that aren't. Much of the "bubble" and "crisis" that we have is a product of the media.
