I’m guilty as charged!! I haven’t written anything that resembles a blog post for over a week. The time has come!! Retirement has been an adjustment from my previously typical day of marketing from morning through most of the day. I can honestly say, I don’t miss it.
I’ll always be grateful for having over 40 years of participating in the real estate business. I’ve bought and sold my fair share of homes; managed real estate offices; and secured plenty of commissions. The best part of my deal is I continue to receive referral fees of 20% from my past clients who call Tammy but mention my name as being their previous agent. This was Tammy’s idea not mine, but I’ll take it!
My real estate license expires in Sept of 2022, and I’ll not be renewing it again. That’s actually a relief, after 42 years (44 years at that future date.) I still have my good old stories that I share with Tammy, when she has an issue with a deal. My opening statements always start with “Well, I had a deal once where a similar situation fell into my lap, I’d blah, blah, blah…..” telling her how to resolve it.
The one thing I learned long ago was for every rule, there’s always a legitimate way to skirt it. I always knew all the angles and shared them freely. If you worked with me, you learned how to solve problems, one way or another.
Marketing was always the #1 task, and the phone rang from the late 1970’s to present day. Even though I’m fully retired, I continue to remind Tammy to do a mass mailing every month and to keep me on their mailing list!!! I’ll start posting their mailers.
Those are my thoughts for the moment….. hope I have more tomorrow!
