Let’s talk about success. Everyone has his/her own definition. One can always distinguish the “top dog” in an area from every other real estate agent. That person’s interpretation is defined by dollar signs.
Money comes, and money goes. Anyone can make money. I’m a firm believer of that statement. However, not everyone can develop, and maintain for a lifetime, business relationships that are carved in stone.
I think back about a few of my builders, and those relationships continue to be ongoing. To this day, they call me for direction, even after knowing that I’m totally retired and have developed Alzheimer’s. I do not give them direction, for fear of my opinion not being up to par. Even though I feel confident, I’m not taking that chance of providing the wrong information. I refer all business to my daughter.
Previously, when my mind was at its sharpest level, my degree of confidence was high. I was often asked questions by other builders to help “their agents.” After I gave it a chuckle, the advice was shared. It was appreciated and eventually, I was offered their listings. I directed all of those offerings to other agents in my office. I had two of the major builders in the area and that was more than enough for one person.
Success breeds success, just as listings beget more listings. Clients talk, and word spreads quickly throughout the builder community, just as it does with homeowners.
When you beat the pavement every day, as you should be, don’t get distracted by glancing at those shiny objects. Stay focused with eyes forward. Business is everywhere. Maintain that degree of concentration and be mindful of your presence.
I’ll say it once more…. Be mindful of your presence…. Stay focused and don’t allow any dilution to occur…. Your business is too valuable to allow it to be diluted.
Just another thought for the moment…. I feel like the gray matter is “cranking” today!!!
