 Masters Music in November

Masters Music

I have had the good fortune to attend the Masters twice. ⛳️  The first time in 1992 when I was playing on the mini-tour.  And again in 2002 with my husband and clients. What an incredible experience and a special place.  Maybe I'll make it back there again in 2022!  ⛳️

Dave Loggins wrote the original score for CBS's coverage of the Masters in 1981. It was re-released by Leeds Music/Patchwork Music ASCAP in 1996 by Don Cherry. The name of the work is "Augusta." Loggins changed a line in the lyrics in 2001 in honor of Tiger Woods.

Augusta

Well, it's springtime in the valley on Magnolia Lane

It's the Augusta National and the master of the game

Who'll wear that green coat on Sunday afternoon

Who'll walk that eighteenth fairway singing this tune

Augusta... your dogwoods and pines

They play on my mind like a song

Augusta... it's you that I love

And it's you that I'll miss when I'm gone.

It's Watson, Byron Nelson, Demaret, Player and Snead

It's Amen Corner and it's Hogan's perfect swing

It's Sarazen's double eagle at the fifteenth in Thirty-Five

And the spirit of a Tiger that keeps it alive

Augusta... your dogwoods and pines

They play on my mind like a song

Augusta... it's you that I love

And it's you that I'll miss when I'm gone.

It's the legions of Arnie's army and the Golden Bear's throngs

And the wooden-shafted legend of Bobby Jones

I didn't know Dave Loggins penned a song for Tiger. That's good to know.  My mom is a huge golf fan and follows all of the big tournements. And yes, she is a big fan of Tiger Woods too.

Hi Kathy- Larry has been watching the Masters between that and football. I watched GameDay today and they were at the Masters!  I loved watching old shots of Tiger when he won the first time and last year.

Ah, the Masters.  I can't get over that video of Jon Rahm, who on his 26th birthday, skip shot the ball across the waters, to land on the green, only to watch it curve down and make the hole.  An absolutely unbelievable shot!
