Vacation Rental Policy at PGA West

One of the most frequently asked questions regarding PGA West real estate is whether the short term rental policy that is now in place will continue in the future.  Currently you are able to lease out your PGA West home for less than 30 day intervals, weekly, or even nightly.  Many investors have purchased in PGA West for the sole purpose of taking advantage of their short term vacation rental policy. This policy is controversial and rumors of an upcoming vote  and possible changes have the community buzzing. 

At a California Lifestyle Realty meeting with PGA West membership this morning, membership confirmed that a vote was coming. Majority will decide whether the vacation rental property will remain in place or be restricted to a 30 day minimum.  We were informed that should the policy change, the current properties would be "grandfathered in" and will be able to continue with short term vaction rentals, until the property sells.  So- even if the policy does change- it will take many years for the short term vacation rentals to be flushed from the community.

I understand why some do not like short term vacation rentals. They also need to understand when the do away with it many buyers go away as well. This reduces values.

Kathy Schowe - People will always respect you when you keep them apprised of changes to policies. Vacation Rentals no doubt need to be changed because of the pandemic and whether or not the policy sticks or stays in place is something interesting parties need to know. You are doing a great job keeping people informed.
