Wow. Living in the Atlanta metro are, we can sometimes get the leftovers from hurricanes coming up from the gulf coast. By the time they arrive here they are mostly rain events. Hurricane Zeta arrived early this morning with some rain and 40-60 MPH wind gusts.
Power is out for nearly 1 million Georgia residents, but most will be back on this morning. Power at my home flickered, but was never completely off. Here is Atlanta we are blessed to live among many trees, but with the soggy ground and the wind, some do fall.
Last night as the storm was approaching, I walked around the outside of my home, looking for objects that could be turned over in the wind or launched into the air like a missile. A couple of potted plants and 1 or 2 holiday decorations came inside for safekeeping.
On my way into work this morning the drive was interesting as leaves and pine needles littered the roadways like a soft carpet. Some traffic lights were out as well.
All in all, it looks like the fast moving Zeta storm left without causing a huge amount of damage. Now on to the cleanup.
