Everyone throughout the country has something to be thankful for when First Responders are working.....
Thankful Thursdays...For Our First Responders
This is one of those days that should be celebrated every day of the year. As it turns out, yesterday, October 28, was National First Responders Day. You can learn more about it here.
I know that there are many here who have family members who are currently First Responders or retired.
My brother is a retired Houston Police Department officer and I currently have 3 family members who are with the HPD.
But there are others who are First Responders...such as firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs. You can also include military personnel as first responders as far as I’m concerned.
These are men and women who run towards trouble while you and I are running away or ducking. Look at the firefighters out west and the many from other states and Canada who are helping to fight the fires.
I am thankful for my niece’s husband, his brother, and my cousin who had to stand there and while rocks were being thrown at them while protecting the police department.
I am thankful for the EMTs who raced to our home in FL when our neighbor was having a massive heart attack in our driveway.
I am thankful to the Delray PD who came to our home at 2 am one night when we thought there was someone in the home.
And thank you to the Delray Fire Department who helped to save my good friend’s home when it caught fire.
Barbara Todaro and Tammy Lankford, have family members who have served... James Dray is retired from the force.
It’s not easy doing what they do. I couldn’t begin to comprehend stopping a car for a traffic violation, walking up to a car with dark tinted windows, not knowing if the person was holding their driver’s license or a weapon.
So when you’re out and about, think about this the next time you see one of our First Responders. And thank them for what they do for us!
