Although we know cleaning our homes is part of every homeowner’s life and it shouldn’t be done only when you’re moving and decluttering, there are some aspects about it that we never talk about, as we assume everyone knows the answers. Some people might be too creative and come up with homemade cleaning products, but most people are clueless about cleaning matters. For instance, how often should you clean your house? Or how often do you need to clean windows? If you look out the window and you realize there’s grime…it’s time to do some serious cleaning.

Clean Windows

The truth is that no one likes to do it and not everyone knows how to clean windows, but it must be done anyway. Keep in mind that whether they’re covered by drapes or blinds, your windows allow light into your home, keep electricity bills low, and provide heat during winter. Windows provide your home with warmth in different ways, so make sure to learn how to wash windows, especially outside.

How Often Do You Need to Clean Windows?

Despite you might wash windows only once or twice a year, you should know you need to do a bigger effort. So, how often do you need to clean windows? Depending on your surroundings, windows should be washed once per month (in a city or forest) or once every two months (in places where pollen and dirt don’t stick easily). Don’t miss to clean outside windows!

Self-Cleaning Windows

Besides the automatic window cleaners that work with sensors, self-cleaning windows are available in the market as well. Although these windows aren’t cost-effective for some places, they’re excellent for some climates. Thanks to their hydrophilic glass with a film that doesn’t let dirt to cling to it, these windows clean themselves with heavy to moderate rain; however, they’re more expensive than other window designs. Therefore, if you live in a place where it rains frequently and you’re looking for new windows, self-cleaning windows are a good option to consider.

Professional Window Cleaning Service

There are several window cleanings services available that can help you with this chore any time of the year. As deciding how often your windows should be cleaned is your call, you could start by getting the service every two months. You’ll see that as soon as you find a cleaning service you trust; you won’t need to think it twice before you call them again, even if you have to pay a price for window cleaning.

Self cleaning windows are overrated!

Depending on the surroundings, windows should be washed once per month (in a city or forest) or once every two months (in places where pollen and dirt don’t stick easily). Don’t miss to clean outside windows!

Good morning Chrissy. Nothing like a crisp view. I do my windows inside and out as necessary. Luckily, even in a hirise, I have access to all my windows. Enjoy your day!

This is good advice and I rarely clean the windows in my home, haha.  When I see they need it, I think about it but that is sometimes as far as it goes.

Hello Chrissy - a regularly scheduled maintenance program is good.  For oneself, a car or a home.  Sadly, this fails for many but your advice is a good reminder about its importance.
