Home 'Electrical' Inspector

By
Home Inspector with Inspector Mike #2116

This weekend I was asked to repair an electrical panel per a Home Inspector's inspection. Not suprising that I found no problems with this installation. I guess the Home Inspector did not see the approved sticker on the panel.

This is why the state says this:

§ 3783.06. Prohibition.

No person shall engage in the practice of electrical inspection in this state unless he is the holder of a certificate of competency as an electrical safety inspector issued under Chapter 3783. of the Revised Code. Any person practicing or offering to practice electrical inspection shall show proof of his certification upon request as provided by rules of the board of building standards.

I see romex sticking out of the panel cover... is that approved by the NEC?

What else got approved?

The NM cable is attached to the panel with a c-500 connector. The picture angle makes it appear to be under the cover.

The home inspector's call on a 'defect' was a double- tapped breaker.

Square D QO breakers are rated for two conductors, if installed properly. They were here.

Both the orginal Electrical Safety Inspector and I agree that this installation is both safe and code compliant.

The sticker means nothing   unless it is dated the same day as his inspection.  An unqualified electrician could have attempted to do some backyard electrical work his self.
