Finding my Voice

By
Real Estate Agent with The Dickenson Group, Keller Williams

I have recently gotten into blogging.  This week, I have been diving in!  A few months ago, I dipped my toe in the water by starting www.TheBrentwoodBlog.com.  It is designed to be a community blog, a single town hall for my neighbors to visit for information and "talk".

It proved to be a daunting task!  Most groups that I targetted actually have great communications on the internet.  I have since refined my focus.  I'll talk about real estate (my passion) and get others to talk, too.  Will this hopefully attract people with real estate on their minds?

In my reading, I have learned that I must "find my voice".  Will someone want to hear my voice?  Is blogging best for people who like to think out out loud?  Then, I guess blogging is for me and I look forward to finding my voice.

Hi Laura - there have been a couple of books on just this very subject reviewed here on Active Rain.

"Realty Blogging" is a terrific book to read - very easy reading and flows naturally.  The link I included here is the final chapter review, and it also has all the other chapter reviews listed with links to make them easy to find.

The other really good book that was reviewed here was "The WEBlog Handbook", and this link is to the final chapter review, and includes all the chapter reviews as well.

Hi, Laura!  Congratulations on your beginning!  It gets easier.  I don't think out loud, I think through my fingers, typing.  You'll become more comfortable with it, just keep going.  I have both books Ann recommended and they are very good.  You started and that's the hardest part!

WOW, What fun already!  Comments from my first blog.

I am reading "Realty Blogging" right now and started my community blog with Richard Nacht's company, Blogging Systems.  I was very taken with the idea of www.TheLakeCountyBlog.com.  What a cool story to naturally bring a realtor website to the top of organic searches on Google, etc.

I am starting to appreciate the way we can build relationships on the net.  Thanks for your reponses, Sarah and Ann!

Hi Laura,

Great start!

Welcome to the ActiveRain Blog network.
Shortly after I started blogging on Active Rain, I wondered how some features worked or how to do some of the things others were using in their posts.

I searched the site and could not find the "Operating Manual".

I asked some questions to other bloggers and soon realized the the power was in the network since most questions had already been answered by other users.

If you find yourself in this situation and have some questions, visit the post below and you will find tips, info and many features of ActiveRain that have been documented by other members.

Nice having you on board,
