Proverbs 26:20
“Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.”
Complaining, quarreling, and gossip causes a lot of trouble for people. Sharing your opinion to others in person and social media may be your way of putting yourself out there to show people where you stand. Some of that is good. You are being your true self and letting people know. Some of it could be harmful. I could cause quarrels, or it could come off as complaining.
Often the cursing’s we speak only gets amplified when we say them to other people. Naturally that gossip is like adding wood to the fire. Even if someone seems to be causing you trouble or making things difficult truly decide if you need to complain or gossip about it. Also decide if it makes sense to fight it out with them? What would Jesus do?
Chances are Jesus would respond to the person trying to challenge or trap him with a question back to them as he often did in scripture. Getting into the Mind of Christ with how we respond is the quickest way to veer out of the potential complaining, gossiping or quarreling situation.
Sometimes you have to walk away before it becomes a stone throwing contest of your words. You don’t always have to be right. You don’t have to make the other person wrong. Allow the person to be heard if needed and respond with grace and love!
LORD HELP ME BE SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT ADD WOOD TO THE FIRE IN CHALLENGING SITUATIONS. INSTEAD I LOOK TO YOU FOR GUIDANCE AND LEAD WITH GRACE, LOVE AND COMPASSION!
*Meditate, pray or affirm the words in BOLD or that are highlighted! Look for short daily messages from me to spread seeds of hope, encouragement, and expansion of your mind, body and spirit daily!
