Never Fight Over Money You Haven't Earned & Pay Agents Their Full Fee
Absolutely. WE want others to share in good fortune.
Let’s shout it out today for leadership. Everyone is a leader in his/her own right. What is the “shape of leadership?” There are many shapes to that one word, and they vary depending on the attitude, personality and goals of the leader.
The most typical structure describing leadership reflects one individual at the top overseeing the members of the group. This style works well if the leader has keen skills with selecting the group members.
My team was structured in that manner, but each member was an independent agent and worked in that fashion under my team name. We were a small group of 3 members who competed with mega groups. We always held our position in the top 10 of New England for decades.
Production starts at the top, and I provided new construction listings in subdivisions. I listed the builders individual communities, and the team members sold them and manned the open houses. I did not take a referral fee from anyone. I listed; marketed all communities; and collected a full listing fee. If a team member sold one, I’d co-broke that deal with the agent. Everyone on the team made money.
When the leader “Traps Greed” underground and everyone makes money, the process runs very smoothly. Builders like to see a smoothly run operation servicing their inventory.
The leader of the team sets the pace; the attitude; and creates the setting for success. Those were the good old days of listing new homes. Success happened because every agent worked and earned commissions. The listing agent never earned beyond the listing fee.
Just another thought from decades ago….
