I'm much more of a "keep the government out of our lives" type person so another bailout of ANYONE is not something I'm for unless you can explain why we have to have it.....

You want us to spend ANOTHER 300 million?

Susan: Protect em now, these are tax payers too...if those people are not in homes paying taxes...our taxes will be going up no matter what! If we can spend Billions helping people in IRAQ, we can SURELY HELP OUR OWN PEOPLE! With that being said,  Wow...what a good time to END all financial Foreign aid to other countries too.

I'm with you on the stopping of foreign aid! Lets let the people who work keep their money!

Still not with you on bailing people out of bad investments unless you want to help out on the money I've lost in the stock market. We all make investment choices and I'm not in favor of bailing anyone out -

Cutting of all social programs works for me too.

I am of really mixed feelings about this. I have deepest sympathies for those that are losing their homes to foreclosure. However, many are the result of their own bad decisions. (And yes, many were sucked in beyond their means).

However, this line from the article disturbs me:

"Both said they neither sought nor knew about the special treatment."

This was Dodd & Conrad. How can these two people who are responsible for our taxes be trusted if they claim they didn't know that their mortgage loans were "special".

But back to the bailout. These programs tend to never end. Next year a different bail out will be needed. Where will it stop?

I would be inclined to say that the government shouldn't bail people out, but the already have bailed out at least 1 lender-remember Bear Stearns?  If they are going to bail out these investors, they should also bail out homeowners.  It took homebuyers AND banks to cause this problem!
