2020 is a year of continued challenges in every facet of our life. Why should it not include the Active Rain Platform? AR appeared to be crashing every day. Like many I needed a break from the disruption, chaos and stress associated with all things Active Rain.
The interesting thing I found is disruption triggered new thinking. I started pondering and talking about things I cared about and understood. I found a myriad of areas in my business that needed a tune up so why not take advantage of the time down from AR?
I began reaching out to past clients with more personal touches and guess what happened? The unintended consequence produced lots of new business. I made a decision to use our Coldwell Banker Realty Listing Concierge Program. The marketing pieces are so professional and well done, the email blasts are effective and everything about the program is producing inquires and keeping me "top of mind" with the people I serve and want to work with!
I’m back now and thrilled Ben Kinney pledged to make the platform better than before. He is showing us by investing his own money into bringing AR back to a better, exciting platform with the best yet to come.
I joined Active Rain in October of 2008 and only took a sabbatical while Ben Kinney addressed the failing site.

“Knowledge is Power” and with all members sharing their expertise the learning is invaluable. I feel like I’m taking mini courses from other agents on a variety of topics. I’ve learned so much about marketing from Barbara Todaro, Debe Maxwell, CRS, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD, Grant Schneider, to name a few.
“Sharing is caring” and reading and learning of everyone’s real life experiences is paramount to understanding and growing in gratefulness. Last year I posted about my gratitude for the Active Rain community when my Geno passed away. The mass out pouring of “love and kindness” I received from the AR community was so comforting and appreciated.
A referral is the best compliment I can receive. Referrals I’ve received from AR members are revered and always taken seriously. By reading other agent posts and how they value their clients is how I make a decision on whom to send a referral. Any AR agent I directed a referral to has done a stellar job for my clients.
The AR platform allows my past clients, my market area and new prospects to understand my business model and how I work. AR keeps me “top of mind” when it comes to professional agents in Austin. I’ve trained my sphere and market area to read my posts, especially my market posts, to understand how our community real estate is preforming.
I’m thankful Ben Kinney is committed to bringing the SEO for Active Rain back with a vengeance and I for one am here to stand behind him 100%.
