100 Deals in 2020
At the start of every year I set my goals and normally I don't reach them because I set them pretty high. That's just something a complusive idiotic workaholic tends to do. I haven't posted on Active Rain for a while as I've been so busy but I'm back on track and hopefully will be posting more. 2020 has been a roller coaster year to say the least. We operate several different businesses and the corona virus has basically shut some down but our real estate business has prospered. Go figure ?? In the real estate brokerage business the agents are paid for two functions selling and listing. In the industry we call them "ends" When we sell our own listing we call it a "double ender" because we get paid for both functions.
At Hants Realty Limited I'm a selling broker which means I list and sell. At some larger companies the broker manages and I do some of that but I'm more of a boots on the ground operator. We also have a very active appraisal division where I'm the senior appraiser. We provide residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural appraisals for lenders, law firms, accounting firms and private individuals. Our firm has been in business for 43 years now and we have a mortgage brokerage and business brokerage divisions. This year (I call it the Covid-19 Market) has been the busiest I've ever seen in Nova Scotia. This has happened in a year where we experienced a mass murder (22 people) in one of our picturesque normally quiet rural communities and during a global pandemic ! None of us could've expected it or prepared for the real estate market that we've experienced. Here in our Atlantic Bubble as it's come to be known the real estate industry united under a common cause to serve Nova Scotian's and those moving to our province. Administrators worked from home, law firms worked remotely from home and lenders provided financing while appraisers followed dept of Health protocals and social distancing. Associations had zoom meetings and adapted to on line training. Realtor's moved to more virtual tours and facetime showings. We all adopted our #NovaScotiaStrong motto and came together in difficult times as we continued to work while mourning those we lost.
Today as I filled out my goal board in my office I was motivated to write this article acknowledging my fellow industry members and our team here at Hants Realty Limited. For the first time in my career I actually reached my personal goal of 100 ends. That's right I represented 100 couples or individuals as their agent when buying or selling a property. In many of those transactions I worked with other industry members and recognize I could not have reached my goal without their help. A sincere thank you from a pretty proud Nova Scotia Realtor.
Thanks Stay Safe and God Bless
