November 2020 Challenge

I have read many of the posts submitted for the November challenge hosted by Jeff Dowler, CRS.  As usual, I am impressed by those who have stepped forth to share their stories.

This month is a bit different with multiple opportunities to reflect on the different aspects of thankfulness and that overwhelming cup of gratitude.  One of those components involves the membership itself which has proven to me to be a very important factor.  And components is important since that word starts with the letter "c" which underscores a consistent theme in my thoughts and in this post.

There are far too many examples that I could cite of members who have shared their knowledge, skill and heart over the years.  In choosing to highlight any individual, I would likely omit someone.  It would be similar to an Oops! moment  forgetting a loved one during an Academy Awards acceptance speech.   It's one of the conumdrums I faced when I first read the guidelines for this challenge but here it is nevertheless.

That said, I am quite grateful for this forum.   While actual fortunes from referrals haven't been as fruitful as they may have been for others, the treasures received are pretty fortuitous.

Sure, there are issues.  But that makes it seem more like a community, right?  And community is definitely one of those factors that make ActiveRain different than anything related to real estate online or in real life.  Whether it's helpful hints dealing with the inner workings of this system or learning about the various markets across ActiveRainLand - the insights shared here are nothing short of  phenomenal.

We are provided with the most basic of information as well as discussions at a much higher level. Yes, it's online but those connections are no less real because of that.  Whether meeting one-on-one is achieved or not, we learn and connect through posts we read, thoughts shared, comments exchanged, questions asked and answered.

And context certainly comes into play as localism and location combine these ongoing conversations.  Whether it's the introduction or an overview of business theories and models, we are exposed to what is happening around the world as it occurs in real time along with the opportunities to reflect on its relevance.

Collusion.  Corruption.  Controversy.  Hey, the challenge instructions stated there must be a minimum of five points of thankfulness mentioned.  So here are three more as my list continues to grow.  And each a "C" word too. Did you catch that?   While not as evil as many sites, there are those who would like to undermine this platform with talks of uprising and assorted deeds of doom and disaster.  But damn you, Mr/Ms Chihuahua - you can annoy us but you will not destroy us.   We are united yet fiercely independent.

Control and Consistency are critical components too.  I have seen these demonstrated through contests/challenges that collectively provide structure with fun.

Oh crud, that's a lot of "C" words - I think I will place this post in the CrapTacular group.  Just Because.

The photo in this post is of a flower-covered float from the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California which was held on January 1, 2016.  Sadly, the parade will not take place this year but the memories live on.  And for that, I am thankful although I miss the preparation of that big day.

Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI -   I concur conclusively.

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist - what can I say? We covered this conundrum with our text messages when the challenge was announced, correct?

Thanks for being a kindred spirit as well as the visit from Mr Crappy - no post which was so "c" centric could not pay homage to him and the spirit of Crap-Tacular.  As for cherry pie, you've got a date - let's put it on the calendar this decade.

Carol Williams - if you can call me a cool dude - it only seems fair that you are coolest chick.  I appreciate the spirit you bring to ActiveRain.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - thank you for the opportunity this month and your skillful hosting of this challenge.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - thank you.  I appreciate your constant support whether be through commenting or in real life.

Rocky Dickerson - cute.

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 - you have captured some new ones without cannibalizing those already shared.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - thankfully there are many members of this community who offer some cackle-worthy conclusions.

Ginger Harper - thank you and I wish you the same.  Enjoy.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - while I know you are not a fan of challenges and I'm not sure if it is receiving national attention but locally, there will be some type of replay of past parades shown for those who, like you, are enthusiastic viewers.

Kathy Streib - I had some choices available - compare - conflate - contrast.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - corroboration and cooperation are a part of this community, no doubt about it.  I am happy that I "found" AR - clap clap clap.

Sharon Tara - thank you for those kind words.

Paula McDonald, Ph.D. - indeed! Thank goodness, Any crossfire associated with AR is purely coincidental.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - I appreciate that - especially as it comes from AR Royalty from Canyon Creek.

Elyse Berman, PA - thank you.

Hannah Williams - I agree. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS -2020 has been a year of reset, adjusting/adapting and changes of all kinds.  Like AR and its occasional setbacks, these times prove how strong we are regardless of the community.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker - I am glad you enjoyed it and I am happy with the congratulations from BananaTude.  Thanks.

Lyn Sims - I do remember word clouds. Unfortunately I am not that creative.  Not even close.

Carol Williams - I think it may be time for an AR Yearbook - you know like in high school.  While I wouldn't qualify - I think you have more than enough cool to be a cool couple all by yourself.

Oh my! Now, that's a LOT of C's, Michael! I may have to call in the Guinness recorder  though -  I think Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP may just have gotten as many in her comment alone!

Connections/conversations, courtesy, camaraderie & consistency are very important to my business and to me here in the Rain. Really, there's so much more than that, isn't there?

As for singling out members, I have one of my challenge entries written and did call out several folks who were in pictures with me. Now I'm rethinking that! Gosh, I hate we can't call out more than 10 at one time - I would just call out those in the pictures to be fair!

Wonderfully thought-provoking entry into this month's challenge. Thank you so much for participating!

May you have a lovely Thanksgiving, filled with joy and many blessings!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - when first reading about this challenge, I started a "list" of members who  I have "met" virtually/as well as in person who "fit" in the thankful/gratitude category and the reasons why I felt that way.  Like Santa, my list quickly grew and grew.  I thought there must be another "way" of capturing the theme yet connecting.  This "worked" for me.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

One of things that I am most thankful about ActiveRain stems from my early days here:  The lessons learned.  I had been an agent for about 2.5 to 3 years at time I discovered the Rain.  I swear I learned more about real estate here than I did anywhere else.  I tell anyone that and will continue to tell everyone that is is where I got my real estate education.
