November 2020 Challenge
I have read many of the posts submitted for the November challenge hosted by Jeff Dowler, CRS. As usual, I am impressed by those who have stepped forth to share their stories.
This month is a bit different with multiple opportunities to reflect on the different aspects of thankfulness and that overwhelming cup of gratitude. One of those components involves the membership itself which has proven to me to be a very important factor. And components is important since that word starts with the letter "c" which underscores a consistent theme in my thoughts and in this post.
There are far too many examples that I could cite of members who have shared their knowledge, skill and heart over the years. In choosing to highlight any individual, I would likely omit someone. It would be similar to an Oops! moment forgetting a loved one during an Academy Awards acceptance speech. It's one of the conumdrums I faced when I first read the guidelines for this challenge but here it is nevertheless.
That said, I am quite grateful for this forum. While actual fortunes from referrals haven't been as fruitful as they may have been for others, the treasures received are pretty fortuitous.
Sure, there are issues. But that makes it seem more like a community, right? And community is definitely one of those factors that make ActiveRain different than anything related to real estate online or in real life. Whether it's helpful hints dealing with the inner workings of this system or learning about the various markets across ActiveRainLand - the insights shared here are nothing short of phenomenal.
We are provided with the most basic of information as well as discussions at a much higher level. Yes, it's online but those connections are no less real because of that. Whether meeting one-on-one is achieved or not, we learn and connect through posts we read, thoughts shared, comments exchanged, questions asked and answered.
And context certainly comes into play as localism and location combine these ongoing conversations. Whether it's the introduction or an overview of business theories and models, we are exposed to what is happening around the world as it occurs in real time along with the opportunities to reflect on its relevance.
Collusion. Corruption. Controversy. Hey, the challenge instructions stated there must be a minimum of five points of thankfulness mentioned. So here are three more as my list continues to grow. And each a "C" word too. Did you catch that? While not as evil as many sites, there are those who would like to undermine this platform with talks of uprising and assorted deeds of doom and disaster. But damn you, Mr/Ms Chihuahua - you can annoy us but you will not destroy us. We are united yet fiercely independent.
Control and Consistency are critical components too. I have seen these demonstrated through contests/challenges that collectively provide structure with fun.
Oh crud, that's a lot of "C" words - I think I will place this post in the CrapTacular group. Just Because.
The photo in this post is of a flower-covered float from the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California which was held on January 1, 2016. Sadly, the parade will not take place this year but the memories live on. And for that, I am thankful although I miss the preparation of that big day.
