30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 20

Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

Wenatchee is the Apple Capital of the World and the Power Belt of the Pacific Northwest.

Today I am thankful for inexpensive electricity in my home.

My power bill from the Chelan County PUD makes me smile just a little each month.  I own a 2300 square foot home powered solely by hydroelctricity.  My lowest bill of the year was around $27. My highest bill through the winter is usually in the range of $75.

My rates in Chelan County are based on a $7.70 monthly base fee plus 2.7 cents per kWh.   I'd be interested to know how this compares to electricity rates in your area.

I am so grateful to live in the region with the some of the lowest hydroelectric power rates in the entire nation.  This is, in large part, because we have the mighty Columbia River running through our beautiful valley and there are 3 hydroelectric dams within a 35 mile radius of Wenatchee.  And, the mammoth Grand Coulee Dam is only 95 miles to the Northeast.

The three county region in Central Washington (Chelan, Douglas and Grant) enjoy the least expensive hydropower rates in the entire United States.  For some people, that is reason enough to move here.  But, there is so much more too.

Good morning, Carol... well, our electricity bills are certainly not that low, but I'm very grateful as to how much lower they are here in Charlotte than they never were in New York City or in Paris and London.

Good morning Carol Williams - sounds like my power bills in Florida. Don't even ask about my Con Edison bill in New York.

Those are energy bills to be envious of, Carol!  I'm not quite that lucky here in Sacramento!  But, I'm luckier than those in surrounding areas, who dwell in PGE electrical districts.

Hello Carol - location makes a difference in real estate as it does in the overall way of life.  Finding that "right" fit is one of the many things we can be thankful.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat
I'm glad you live in one of the less expensive districts.  Hawaii is the most expensive by far.

Hi Kat Palmiotti
From what I can tell, Montana has some of the more reasonable power rates in the nation.

Morning Carol.

Don't know what my bill is, other than it is a set amount each month. Every year I collect a check for 1,000.00 that I put back in savings.
