Wenatchee is the Apple Capital of the World and the Power Belt of the Pacific Northwest.
Today I am thankful for inexpensive electricity in my home.
My power bill from the Chelan County PUD makes me smile just a little each month. I own a 2300 square foot home powered solely by hydroelctricity. My lowest bill of the year was around $27. My highest bill through the winter is usually in the range of $75.
My rates in Chelan County are based on a $7.70 monthly base fee plus 2.7 cents per kWh. I'd be interested to know how this compares to electricity rates in your area.
I am so grateful to live in the region with the some of the lowest hydroelectric power rates in the entire nation. This is, in large part, because we have the mighty Columbia River running through our beautiful valley and there are 3 hydroelectric dams within a 35 mile radius of Wenatchee. And, the mammoth Grand Coulee Dam is only 95 miles to the Northeast.
The three county region in Central Washington (Chelan, Douglas and Grant) enjoy the least expensive hydropower rates in the entire United States. For some people, that is reason enough to move here. But, there is so much more too.
