All Common Sense Removed...by M.L.S.

Our M.L.S. just instituted a new policy. We now have a list of Words that Can Not Appear on listings and a list of Words that Almost Cannot Appear on a listing. The computers are programmed to reject any listing that has these words - no matter what the context. So a shady back yard can no longer be described as a back yard with mature trees. Mature is disallowed!  They can be matured trees, they can be well-developed, they can be full-grown - but not mature. A house that has rust colored ceramic tile - cannot be described in that way. The listing cannot even be Canceled without removing the word "colored". Tiles that have a rust color would be acceptable, but not rust colored!

Anyone else experiencing this politically correct conundrum??

It's unfortunate that the programming has to be so stringent, but it's even more unfortunate what you would find along the lines of fair housing violations in MLS when you take a short 20 minutes to look for them.

Our local MLS has a similar program, but rather than preventing the listing from going Active, a 'listing checker' message is sent to the agent and the broker for review and clarification.  We have 5 days to respond before the listing is kicked out -- which is ample time.

As a broker, I welcome it.  I'd rather be safe than sued.

That is so wierd and ridiculous. I can't believe it. But, that's what happens in a slow market. People need to keep busy so they think of stupid ways to make our lives for difficult. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Myrna,  When will political correctness end.  Obama's campaign didn't let a muslim woman sit in the crowd behind him but apologized for the act later.  Why? Political correctness.  This stuff is getting on my nerves.
