Strange Moments in Real Estate

If there is one thing the real estate agents in my market who know me on a personal level have heard me say time and again, it's that real estate agents should have their own open mic night at their local comedy club.  We get together over a cocktail and you wouldn't believe the stories.  (Actually, the members of Active Rain would.  I seem to recall hosting a contest with Erica Ramus forever and a year about our most embarrassing moments in real estate.)

Once you open up with a story or two about your experiences as a real estate agent in a non-real estate agent crowd, you can easily become the life of any party.  I think it would take a homicide detective to beat some of the stories we have.  My dream is to have drinks with Homicide Hunter Joe Kenda one day so I can be wowed for a change.  It could happen.  We have a mutual friend.  And that friend happens to owe me for the autographed picture of G. Gordon Liddy I got him when I was selling Gordon's radio show for Westwood One Radio Networks.  Guess real estate stories aren't all I've got.  Gordon did put an end to a sexual harrassment situation for me when I was but a young college grad.  Ahhh memories.

Anyway, I was recounting one of the stories I had nearly forgotten to a fellow agent the other day.  Have you ever had a buyer want to return a house?  I have.  Talk about an uncomfortable conversation.

What is a truly strange moment from your real estate career?

I'm looking forward to getting back to normal stories about real estate or non Covid stories about real estate. I followed your link back to your post and I just shook my head.

Happy Saturday evening Chris Ann Cleland

It's rough when someone thinks there is a receipt with which you can return a home.

Hi Chris Ann Cleland you're right we agents have hilarious stories.  When the happy hour girls get together it's non-stop fun!

Your clients scared himself!  Thank goodness you were able to talk him off the ledge and come to his senses.

It was one for the books.  And at the time, I was a newer agent.   Listening goes a long way to helping.

I would much rather listen to the stories from agents than homicide detectives, haha.

We have some interesting tales.  DEA Agents are fun to talk to with as well.

Hello Chris Ann,  bet a TV show could be may out of this with many agents having lots of stories like the time we did not do a walk through and we should of, sellers did not want to give up their home so they put dirty diapers in every room.

That's so petty and gross.  Like dirty diapers are going to stop a buyer from buying?

All of us have experienced unexpected moments in real estate. You never know what will happen next. I have viewed hundreds of foreclosures where the conditions have been far beyond the imagination of the typical home buyer.

Take care, be safe and have an outstanding week.

I remember seeing one so bad it looked the owners had taken a sledge hammer to the walls.

Chris Ann Cleland  I have had a buyer complain until I said let's put your house up for sale and you can buy something else - This was not the house for you .Believe it or not it stopped the calls
