How many times a day do you say, “Thanks"?

Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart SA541769000

How many times a day do you say, “Thank You”? I bet that it is quite a few.

Do we recognize how often we are thankful for the little things? Perhaps it is as uncomplicated as receiving good service at the local coffee shop. As simple as someone holding a door for you. There are so many things to be thankful for, every day.

Received a compliment? Say thank you. It goes a long way.

Today I tried to place close attention to each time I said, “thank you”. I was surprised by how often I did. Most of the time I was talking to myself. I would say simple phrases like; “Thank God”, or “thank goodness”. Usually, it was when I was trying to solve a problem, and I found the answer. Other times it was an affirmation that someone else’s problem was resolved, such as in, “You’re feeling better? Thank goodness.”

Of course, there are events in our lives that we are thankful to have happened. Big things that we remember forever. The birth of a child. The day we marry or one of our family members marries. We are grateful for birthdays, anniversaries, and family reunions. Sharing these milestones with others are all ways in which we express our gratitude. Friends and family are the people we are most thankful for.

When you get older, you are thankful for a good night’s sleep. You can be thankful when your favorite football team wins or when the Green Bay Packers lose.

But it is the small things we overlook. We can be thankful for the daily sunrise because it is a chance to start anew. Each day is a blessing. We can be equally thankful for a sunny day and a rainy one. They both have their place making the world a place that supports life.

With so many little things to be thankful for, how can we be unhappy? We should always be thankful for all we have, big or small.

It is an easy word to say, try it... “Thanks!”

This is a great post and the intro reminds me of the only New Year's Resolution I made that I ever kept.  Simply saying "Thank you," when receiving a compliment.  I don't know what it is in our nature, but we tend to deflect compliments.

Hi Joseph- I do say "Thank you" a lot...even to my husband!  I do make it a point to thank someone when they do something whether it is small, tiny or huge!  It's so important to give something positive to those around us.

Hi Joseph:

Intriguing post! It's pretty easy to say Thanks but I bet many say it far fewer times a day than they could. Certainly everyone appreciates getting a thank you...and a smile!

I've never counted the times I've said thank you in a day but may give it a go - could be enlightening!

I say thank you many times each day - even to my dogs for coming when they're called. Today I said many thank you''s when a simple re-boot fixed a computer problem that looked like it was going to be a real PITA.

I've made it a habit - before I go to sleep each night I say thanks for a number of things - including my family. When I shower I say thank you for that hot water and all the people who made it possible for me to enjoy it. The list goes on.

Joe I never say "thanks" I find it rude and inconsiderate as well as lazy, hence I always say "Thank you" you can see it in my  posts and comments.... a hundred years ago I had this conversation with a great Realtor who is not on the platform any more... how hard is it to go and Say THANK YOU?? Endre

I also  use the word several times a day. When I'm in a shop receiving services, I try to put a spin on it to make it a little different:  thank you very much, I appreicate it . Or, that looks delicious! Please thank the chef.  Something like that.
