Today I am thankful for essential workers.  I appreciate ALL those who have continued to work in various capacities during the pandemic to provide us with important items for daily living.

However, today I want to express special gratitude for the workers who take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. I am speaking of those who work in medical facilities, assisted care facilities, adult family homes, and private care service providers.  Also, a huge thanks to those families who choose to keep their loved ones home and care for them.

These folks are a big deal!

I have always had great respect for people that work those jobs since I know that I would not want to be doing it.

Hello Carol - even when things are not in a topsy-turvy sort of way, the essential people of the workforce are a vital part of our society.

Hi Brian England
I do have a soft spot in my heart for the elderly but, like you, I would not want to be the one doing their job on a daily basis. I can clearly see the toll it has taken on staff over the last few months.  They are to be commended and appreciated.

You got that right, Michael Jacobs .  I think this pandemic has made clear who the true essential workers are in society.

Good morning, Carol... these workers are true heroes! Where would we be without their dedication and selflessness (and not just during a pandemic)?

Good morning Carol. The essential workers have no excuses, they just do their job. Many should follow their lead! Enjoy your day!

Amen to that, Nina Hollander
I think this pandemic has revealed who the true essential workers (and heroes) are... and it's not movie stars and professional athletes.

Hi Wayne Martin
There is much we can do as citizens as well.  It was well worth the time I spent with my sister-in-law at her assisted living apartment yesterday, giving her a break from the isolation.

Hello Carol Williams

Like you, I am grateful for all the essential workers. My mom was in a care facility for 9+ years ... the people who take care of our elderly and those who cannot take care of their self, are true heroes.

I hope you enjoyed the day, and your meal, with your sister-in-law yesterday.

Hi Carol I have admired care givers for many years. I first experienced it when I was 10 and my  grandpa was dying. My Grandmother took care of him and was so kind to him. And it went on from there.  You personally know what it takes to care for those who just can't anymore....it's a big job and requires a lot of patience and kindness.

Just this morning, I saw a photo of a front line worker holding and hugging a dying man.  I couldn't help the tears that flowed down my face.  I can't even begin to imagine what those folks are going through!

Morning Carol.

As I was scrolling down to make my comment, I noticed you wrote to someone, you had a soft spot to the elderly.  So, I take it you have a soft spot for me, I'm elderly.......
