How Long Can I keep the Leftovers from Thanksgiving?

This year's Thanksgiving festivities were seriously limited, with COVID interfering with our annual large gatherings.   This year smaller turkeys were difficult to find, so many households have a refrigerator full of leftovers!

How long should these leftovers be eaten?   The experts say - only 3-4 days!    Don't use the smell test, on Monday, either put them in the freezer, or toss them.    You don't want any bacteria to ruin the week for you!

So, if you have leftovers on Monday --- TOSS THEM, OR put them in the freezer!

Hi Joan- we sent a lot home with my brother and his family on Thanksgiving. Made turkey soup today and ham salad from the ham we had.

Good morning, Joan... not a problem at my house!  This year, or most any year... as I rarely cook on Thankgiving. Great advice, nonetheless, as I know many people don't know this safety tip.

We made a smaller meal this year as well, so I don't think there was a lot leftover but if there is some leftover turkey, I am going to make a soup with it.

Michael Jacobs I usually make sure nothing remains in there more than a week, so was a bit surprised at only 4 days!

Hannah Williams good job, and soup is good to make this time of year.   My stuffing was too dry this year, may not finish mine.

Rocky, YUMMY, love marsala.   I have made it a few times, but usually go to Carrabbas when I want the good stuff.

Nina Hollander did not know you didn't cook for Thanksgiving.  But knew you went to someone else's home.    I was surprised at the 4 days, I usually make sure nothing is leftover for more than a week.

Brian England I have a little turkey left, and seems like a good day to make some soup.  It will only get to 40 today, a bit chilly.
