Genesis 32:26
Then the man said, “Let me go for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
In this chapter Jacob was wrestling with and angel of God all night and the angel of God could not overpower Jacob which led to this verse. Jacob was leaving the land of his father in law and crossing back over to go to the homeland of his father Isaac.
He was worried that his brother Esau might carry through on his threat years earlier to kill him and was set to meet Esau and 400 armed men next. Jacob knew it was his destiny to go back to his home land. He had years earlier received the blessing from his father to be extremely prosperous. Yet he was faced with this potential fear of his brother.
Jacob wanted his promise, believed the blessing was his, so much so that he wrestled all night with this angel. And due to that the angel renamed him Israel, and his family became a great nation. He possessed the promise because he struggled with God and man and overcame!
You too have a promise, a blessing, a calling to take possession of. You too will at times seem like you are wrestling, struggling, and seeing an army coming against you on the horizon. Are you willing to wrestle and not let go until you get your blessing? Thats often what it takes to cross over and take possession of your promise land!
LORD I DECLARE TODAY THAT I AM WILLING AND ABLE TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO OVERCOME WHAT SEEMS TO BE OPPOSING ME POSSESSING MY PROMISE BECAUSE I KNOW YOU ARE WITH ME. I TRUST YOU AND EACH DAY MY FAITH IS STRENGTHENED IN YOU!
