Good Morning Kathy... it's a great way to have some help in putting away the ornaments while the fun and excitement await!

That is a very interesting idea. I remember around the time that I was starting to think that Santa wasn't real, my Mom had one of her sisters set everything up while we were at midnight Mass. I remember being so confused since Mom and Dad were both with me so how could they have set everything up for Santa, haha.

Good morning Kathy. If my grandson were around the tree would be on the ground and he would be opening the gift well in advance of Christmas. Novel idea. Enjoy your day!

Good morning, Kathy Streib that's a wonderful family tradition.... I have one with my family, too...
I buy a few hundred dollars worth of scratch tickets and after all the presents are opened, we sit at the island (seats 10) and I pass out tickets to each family member....plus a coin to scratch them....
you can hear a pin drop ....there is total silence....I think it's the funniest thing....every the most boisterous of them are silent... they even breath quietly!!!!
and there's always at least one winner, but usually several....

That is certainly different and a way to get all the needles off a live tree before taking it out of the house

Hello Kathy - I have never heard of a "Plunder Party" - is it an exclusively Streib family creation or does it have some other origination? Now, you have me pondering plunder parties. Preposterous. Purposeful. Perhaps. . .

Hi Kathy,
That seems like a fun tradition. It's such a shame that 2/3 kids are now young adults and no real traditions like this one have been started.

Kathy I hate to decorate the tree or take the ornaments down. BUT I love the plunder party idea, and that might even get me to participate ☺️

Wayne Martin you'll have to wait a few years for this tradition.
Donald Urschalitz you could tuck away something special for your special lady.
Barbara Todaro we used to do that at our neighbor's home on Christmas day!!
Kat Palmiotti I hadn't either until I met Larry.
Ed Silva ohhhh I never liked having to deal with the needles after we took down the tree!

Hi Michael Jacobs I have no idea where it started!!! Purposeful? absolutely Preposterous? Perhaps Pfun? For sure!!!
Grant Schneider Larry's mother had a PhD in Psychology...I'm sure she had an ulterior motive.

Hi Jeffrey Richman I still think it's a shame that many young children think that a real hamburger tastes like the ones you get at the Golden Arches...nothing wrong with them but not a real burger.
Sharon Lee my least favorite thing about the holidays. BTW- we've had a lot of small birds coming around...warblers, nuthatches, etc.
Thank you Roy Kelley I will. You and Chef Dolores be well.

I love the plunder party idea Kathy! I wish I would have known about it when the kids were here - and now the grandkids. And hey, I'm up for hiding for a few gifts for myself and Gary! Fun!
Hi Kathy Streib
I've heard of all kinds of parties but never a plunder party. I love how the anticipation for the children carried through to after the main event. It also gives me a whole 'nother reason to buy stuff for myself. LOL
Thanks for sharing a new idea.
I don't think it's silly. It's fun. Plus, it can be a bit meloncholy to take down the tree - especially if you're nutty for Christmas, like I am. This way, you get a special little treat - something to look forward to.
Kathy Streib I do that every year - I buy myself what I really wanted - but I do not put up a tree anymore - Just put out my elves and stuff animals
Happy Holidays -- so glad Carol Williams featured this as I missed it

Good morning, Kathy... what a great idea and tradition from Larry's side of the family. Always interesting to hear how different families have their special little traditions.
