Katharine Jefferts was born in Pensacola, Florida back in 1954 to Keith and Elaine. She attended school in New Jersey. He attended Stanford University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, a Master of Science degree in oceanography and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1983 from the Oregon State University.
Being raised in the Catholic Church, in 1963, her parents took her to the Episcopal Church in New Providence, New Jersey. In 1979, she married Richard Schori. In 1994, she earned her Master of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
What you may not know about Katharine Schori is that she was the first woman elected as a primate in the Anglican Communion. In 2006, she was elected to servea nine-year term as Presiding Bishop another first for women.
She retired in 2014, as far as I can tell she is alive and doing well.
