YouTube Thursdays - The Fine Line Between Sappy and Warmly Happy

We both are sentimental people, however treacle turns us off. If we’re going to have our emotions played, it better be done very  well.

Throughout the holiday season, YouTube Thursdays is featuring uplifting videos that evoke emotions. This week, the focus is on connections - relationships and togetherness.

This first video could have been a bit sappy had it not been for the injection of a bit of humor - kids do often roll their eyes at the silly antics of well-meaning dads (and moms). We've both done a version of this for our own children, therefore, it's quite relatable.

We both appreciate the message in this one. “If there was ever a Christmas to look out for one another, this is the one.” One simple gesture of kindness from one neighbor to another - priceless, especially when done on the sly.

This final ad from Xfinity features Steve Carrell cast as Santa. And, like most of us, Santa knows the usual gifts just aren’t going to cut it in this most unusual year.

We hope you enjoyed these as much as we did. A reminder and a word of warning, sentimental videos can be very impactful, but the line between sappy and warmly happy is a fine one.  Proceed with caution and authenticity.

Remember, you are welcome to share your own YouTube Channel in the comments below. And, it's always good form to return the favor when someone visits your channel and subscribes, likes a video, and/or leaves a comment.

Happy Holidays from YouTube Thursdays!

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

Good afternoon Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD ,

What a wonderful selection of three videos! I loved the first one and thought of things that bring back fond memories from my and dad, mom and my Geno. The second one was so special. It touched my heart seeing someone take the time to so something for a friend or neighbor and it making such a difference. I admit I thought the same thing as Michael Jacobs ..I learned something new in your post as I know I've never heard the word treacle! I expect to read a pondering post on that word soon and see Michael's thread that word into a conversation! LOL!

The old fashioned classic 'feel good' Christmas musicals are what get to my emotions Debb, even after watching them over and over. The first commecial is done very well and grabs the heart, plus I love Redbone's music!

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - Seeing the evocative scenes in the first two videos caused me to relive the true meaning of Christmas. In the first one, I was reminded that even though kids don't always appreciate their mother or father being silly, when they mature and have kids of their own, they find ways to make up for it when they are parents. The second one is a good reminder to always do random acts of kindness, especially for the elderly.  I find the ones that deserve it the most will never ask but greatly appreciate when people show they really do care.

All three of them were great lessons and they embrace the Christmas spirit. Thanks for all the entertainment and teaching methods you provide to us here on ActiveRain. Also, congratulations on getting FEATURED on AR!
