Holiday Cactus and Bougainvillea

Holiday decorating here in Southern California is noticeably different than what I was used to back in New England.
We spent New Years weekend with a good friend in the California Desert back in 2012, and when walking around the neighborhood we spied this holiday cactus. The plant and ornaments alone were pretty cool but the backdrop of the Bougainvillea made it special.
Seems to me this would be a bit pricklish to decorate, don't you think?
It was a vivid reminder that you will find beautiful holiday decorations wherever you live, or visit, and it's fun to see what people create at their homes, inside or out - whether it's traditional in your mind or not!!
