Overcoming Procrastination

By
Real Estate Agent with "Lisa The Broker" California 01424711

As self-employed individuals, one of the biggest obstacles we encounter is ourselves and procrastination.  Over the past few years you could be not a great but a good agent and still make it, however, with the market in its current state, homes are staying on the market longer, loans are not as east to obtain, and prices are declining.

It is easy to blame the market, but instead build the skills necessary for you to succeed.  Be open to learning new things. When you find yourself becoming discouraged, it is important to create the right mindset and Re-Program Your Mind. Please find below a list of things that have been successful for me in keeping myself focused.

  • Create a schedule and stick to it
  • Surround yourself with positive people
  • Exercise your creativity
  • books
  • Gratitude Journal
  • Find an accountability partner

It is not too late to have your "Best Year Ever".

Lisa, all simple, basic ideas but great in their simplicity.  We just need to implement them.

Good Ideas.  You never stop learning, but if you do I would assume you're out of the business. This business requires constant change.

There are so many things we can do to be more productive. My biggest is cold calls. I procrastinate way too much on cold calling.

I heard on a PBS special yesterday(E2) that everything in life that moves or transforms requires energy.  For humans to avoid procrastination and to progress, they must have and apply energy.  Thanks for your blog...between you and PBS, I think I am being given a message > stop procrastinating and get moving!  Always a good reminder.

Welcome to ActiveRain, Lisa! Even though we're self-emloyed, real estate agents need to remember the power of groups. Your tips about positive people and accountability partners reinforce that. Don't be a secret agent, and don't go it alone.
