Andrea Bocelli "Believe" - Live from Teatro Regio di Parma

A career is like a house: it's made of

many bricks, and each brick has the same

value, because without them, the house

                                      would collapse ---Andrea Bocelli

A Live Andrea Boceli Concert is something I enjoy and the gift I give myself for bringing my first born into this world. In the past, I enjoyed the live events in Dallas but this year was different. It was live streamed on December 12, 2020. I bought a ticket. It was live streamed from Italy inside the Teatro Regio of Parma, one of the oldest and most famous Opera Houses in the world.

What I love is his voice and all the work that is put into creating the magical event. The ambiance creates a mood unlike anything inside a modern building. His guests who are chosen to sing with him are also some of the finest voices in the world and musical performers.

What was different about yesterday's event includes:

  • The price was significantly less.
  • I didn't have to get dressed up.
  • Nor did I have to drive and pay for parking.
  • The temperature was the same as the indoor temperature in my home.
  • Viewing it on-line was tiny and the same size as any YouTube Video.
  • I missed the clapping and interactions with the crowd.
  • Andrea was there but the feeling of reality was missing.
  • *The orchestra music did not transcend me as it does when live.
(My computer speakers are no match to the entertainment live)
  • Normally, he exits & the audience's robust clapping brings him back.
  • In conclusion, he just walked off the stage & didn't return.
  • It was an abrupt ending without an encore.

I miss what we had before COVID-19. To his credit, the theme "Believe," was appropriate. Instead of feeling exhilarated like I normally would, I felt sad. There was no immediacy or presence, and the live experience was lost. I never realized how great it is to be a part of a whole, while sitting in a theater, feeling the energy while meeting new people who shared the same experience.

A positive frame of mind will definitely enhance your traveling experience. If I'm not in a positive state of mind, then the whole thing becomes more of a challenge to me---Andrea Bocelli

In sum, and in my opinion, today's world is a greater challenge than anything before COVID-19, because the impact is on everyone and on all the things we took for granted or aspired to achieve ---Patricia Feager

Not the same as a live performance, but better than not hearing Andrea. I just checked out this YouTube  singing with his daughter.

I have always loved Andrea Bocelli and let's be clear what is the difference watching him on TV, in an audatorium or listening to him on a CD? all good, Endre

Good morning, Patricia... as you know, I love Andrea Bocelli's voice and music. Like Barbara Todaro I could listen to him all day. One thing I've done is stopped thinking about COVID any more than I need to... it's helped to keep me upbeat in the present and in my expecations for the future.

Barbara Todaro - Until my CD player in my car broke, I listened to Andrea Bocelli everywhere I went and never tired of hearing the same songs. Recently he was on Public Television and I enjoyed it. His voice is very angelic and appreciated.

He has such an amazing voice and I am glad you got to enjoy it again this year, even though it was a bit different.

Brian England - Andrea Bocelli's voice is so calming and clear. In my opinion, when it comes to music and especially Christmas Music, he is a Messenger with a voice that commands any stage. I wouldn't miss him any chance I get.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Good morning Patricia!

I have had the good fortune to see Andrea in concert several times. Live performances are wonderful, partly because of Andrea himself, but also because of the audience excitement, and yes, the encores.

I am happy you had the opportunity to see him "live" via streaming, but sad that it couldn't have been in person this year.

I heard him say on some show that one of the ways he practiced singing is to do it while lying down. If you can get your diaphragm to be able to push out that voice while lying down, doing it standing is much easier. I thought that was interesting.

Have a great day!

Kat Palmiotti - Having the "good fortune," to experience the voice and music of Andrea Bocelli is such a gift! I recall during an interview some time ago when someone asked him about traveling around the world and how is that different when he's blind? He said the crowd fuels his energy. Knowing that many people can't travel to Italy, he enjoyed bringing it directly to the people.

After going to his live performances, it became crystal clear to me that at the end of the show and he left the stage, the crowds robust clapping and appreciation is what caused him to return and sing one more time. The last time he was in Dallas, he came out more than once and always had a bigger smile each and every time.

I can't even put myself in his shoes to know, you can't see the audiance AND you can no longer hear the audience.

That's very interesting! "The ways he practiced singing is to do it while lying down." I heard a lot of people say they practice in the shower. Perhaps that's the difference between an amateur and a real professional or between good and great? Thanks for sharing that information. Because of people like you, I learn something new all the time!

Thanks, Kat.

Virtually would be hard to watch in some ways, Patricia, even though he is wonderful, especially after having seen him in person. Guess you take the great with the not-so-good!

Oh, I adore his voice - angelic, indeed, Patricia!

I wondered how the virtual concert would be and agree how an enthusiastic audience, encouraging encores would be something seriously missing from an online concert. I hope you are able to catch him in 2021 - I know that would be on my bucket list for the new year. There are so many things that 2020 has kept us from enjoying but, I know that we are going to appreciate those things even more in the future.

Great post and list of differences for us to all consider when buying tickets for a virtual concert. THANK YOU!
