If You Mail It, They Will Call

For years, I have mailed out calendars within a special seasonal card to the people in my sphere.  Some of them are family member, after all one does hope they remember you are in the business, even though they may be reluctant t have you aware of their financial strength.

I have also been an advocate of including a card to the orphaned client, or at least I hope they are.  The orphans are, of course, the clients that were on the opposite side of my transactions.  I'm letting them know that at east one agent in their deal appreciated them.

I will get the occasional call from the sphere to thank me for thinking of them and the appreciation of the card.  This year, however, the calls started within short days of my sending out the cards.

Maybe it's the nature of the times that people are just appreciative of a kind thought amidst all the angst around them.  It certainly could be my aged face on my business card. 

Regardless, if you send them out, one can only hope to get the response desired, which would be an acknowledgment and possibly a call later in the year for some help with their real estate needs.

I feel that so few people are mailing things such as a calendar, that doing this adds the personal touch and really appreciate the effort. An email wishing us well is so impersonal . Something old is something new again :)

Glad to see you are getting positive feedback from your mailer, Ed Silva. Just this morning I sent out a video to my sphere, and almost immediately the open notifications started pouring in! This year, more than ever, with people stuck at home, email and US Mail of marketing materials will most likely receive more attention than they otherwise might have in years past.

My financial adviser always sends a hand-signed Christmas card but doesn't personalize it.    I write "Hi client!" including the names of their kids and their pets, and I write in a litte something personal then sign it.    I agree with Derrick Guevremont - I do it out of appreciation for them.    If I get something from it someday, that's the icing on the cake.

I get mailers from agents all the time at my house--I assume they do get some response,  At least gets your name out there and a thoughtful gesture!

I've been sending calendars for over 20 years.  It let's my 'people' know I'm still in the business.  And yes, the phone does ring, the emails happen, as do the FB posts after they are sent. 

I attended a zoom meeting recently and the angry presenter said, "You're still not doing calendars are you?" 

YES!  YES, I am, and I always will. 

It's one more touch for less than $200.  Is it Old School?  Yes.  Does it work?  Yes.  Do you think of me as your trusted real estate professional?  YES! 

This is just a very small portion of my marketing.  A small portion with a great return.

This is so true.  I mailed out cards at Thanksgiving, I was on top of my game then.  I also sent out cards to the side I was not part of.  This year we have so much to be thankful for and it was my best year yet.  I need to get those Christmas Cards in the mail - it's not too late!  Thanks for taking the time to give us this reminder. It's nice to get a card in the mail and know you are appreciated and thought of - especially now.

I agree!!! and the more personal the better.  Snail Mail does work when done as a targeted piece and regularly.... I have also had great luck with it with my business partners... Up until March,..... Now no one is in their offices
