Christmas Has Not Been Cancelled In Charlotte!
WalletHub has just released its list of 2020 Best Cities for Christmas,ranking the Greater Charlotte area #28 of 100 Amerian cities based on 15 key indicators of a safe and affordable Christmas.
Despite additional pandemic related-related restrictions and cancellation of many traditional Christmas events in the Queen City, there are still lots of ways you can enjoy the Christmas season and Christmas lights in Charlotte this year.
- Christmas Town USA: McAdenville: although the light display will be somewhat downscaled in 2020, you can still visit McAdenville and enjoy their 65th annual display of lights and decorated homes (through December 26th).
- Sea of Lights at SEA LIFE Aquarium: through January 3rd, SEA LIFE Aquarium is lighting up with holiday spirit and over 10,000 holiday lights, sparkling across 5,000 "fishy friends." Location: 8111 Concord Mills Boulevard in Concord.

Christmas Market at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery: The OMB Christmas Market is a wonderful place to shop in an outdoor, open-air market while enjoying seasonal beer, spiced wine, and tasty food. Enjoy great local vendors and artisans showcasing their goods. Location: 4150 Yancy Road in Charlotte.
- Charlotte Christmas Village: a European-inspired Christmas Market in Charlotte's Uptown, featuring unique shopping, Christmas lights, and an array of specialty foods, from classic Austrian strudels to Bratwurst with Sauerkraut to glazed nuts. Open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through December 23rd. Location: 324 S Mint Street in Charlotte.
- Lights & Ice Skating At The US National Whitewater Center: features a 17,000-square-foot ice skating rink will be located in the upper pond of the USNWC and “Lights” illuminated walking trail with vibrant light installations with webs, vines, branches and other natural elements. Location: 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway in Charlotte.
- Speedway Christmas at the Charlotte Motor Speedway: through January 17th, you can enjoy 4+ million twinkling lights (and coordinated music on the radio), spanning a nearly 4-mile course that makes for a festive holiday drive. Location: 5555 Concord Parkway South in Concord.
- Holidays at the Garden at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden: you'll enjoy strolling along the “Mile of a Million Lights” on the 110-acre property; savor the sight of the beloved Orchid Tree with more than 300 live orchids. And there's also a crackling fire where you can roast marshmallows. Location: 6500 South New Hope Road in Belmont.
- Christmas at the Library at the Billy Graham Library: where you can enjoy a live nativity scene, horse-drawn carriage rides, story-time from Christmas books, carolers and more. Location: 4330 Westmont Drive in Charlotte.
So don't let anyone tell you that Christmas in Charlotte has been cancelled in 2020!
