Our Favorite Elk Grove Breakfast Spot

We moved to South Sacramento in 1987 and soon found an awesome restaurant with an outstanding breakfast selection, the Stagecoach in Sacramento.  When we moved to Elk Gove ten years later, we were happy to discover that there was a Stagecoach in Elk Grove.  We love both locations, but we usually visit the Elk Grove location.

What is good?  Chicken Fried Steak is our family's favorite, but the large portions make it best for those special occasions when you are really hungry.  Today, we enjoyed Pigs in a blanket and Corned Beef hash and eggs.  The pancakes where light and airy with tasty syrup and plenty of butter.  The hash was very crispy and well seasoned.

One thing you cannot pass up are the large, pillow like biscuits!

You might ask, like my lovely wife did, "where is the gravy?" to which I said, "It is very good, but I am trying to get in shape." "You know, round is a shape," was her wry reply. Good point!  I should have had the gravy!

The food is delicous.  The portions are plentiful and it is all served with a smile. Lunch and dinner are also very good too.  Hope to see you there soon.

For sure, Roy... those biscuits look very tempting. Now I'll be dreaming of a great cheese omelette to go with the biscuits for the rest of the day.

Hi Michael Jacobs,  the food was so comforting yesterday that I was looking for a hammock afterwords.

It is always hard to try anything else on the menu, Kathy Streib, but yesterday I forced myself to get something else.  Hope you are doing well.

Barbara Todaro, you are missing a treat.  When done right, it is so good.  It has to be a rare treat, though.  It does have a few calories!

They do make great cheese and mushroom omelettes, Nina Hollander.  My favorite place for omelettes, Chuck's, is in Stockton about 40 minutes away.  I may have to write about that one too.  It will give me a reason to go there!

Brian England, it sounds like a trip to Elk Grove should be in your future.  We have a lot of places to introduce you to.

I am sure that I could be swayed to make a trip out there, especially if there is room for me at the inn.

There is always a place at the inn for you, Brian England.

MM has a way with her words, Kat Palmiotti.  It keeps me humble!

Happy Wednesday to you, Ron and Alexandra Seigel.  Today was a workout day, given the start to yesterday so no breakfast in our household yet either.

OMG, I am definitely going to use that, 'round is a shape,' Raymond! I love your wife's sense of humor!

Stagecoach looks like a wonderful place to me. Any place that serves breakfast all day is my kind of place!

Raymond, LOL, did you have the gravy?   I have never been a fan of gravy, as Colorado isn't hot of that food product.

I did not have the gravy this time, but have had it in the past and it is good.  My wife is from the South so gravy is one of the four food groups, along with butter, bacon and grits.  And one of the main reasons I run.

"Round is a shape." I'm still laughing with a lot of ho! Ho! Ho! That would make a great comic strip!

By the way, when I moved to TX, I couldn't believe they served biscuits and gravy. It was like being in a foreign country. Also, I hope your restaurants stay open and people come in droves to support local business owners.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP, they have stayed open and, what I really liked to see, there were police officers enjoying breakfast there too.  These companies have a tough enough time without having to shut down.  They have plenty of safe practices in place and we felt completely safe.  I am glad you had a chuckle about "round is a shape."  It makes me laugh every time.

Is the stagecoach a prerequisite for the next time you move. Does the new house have to have that a stagecoach restaurant

I guess we could settle for a restaurant with a different name, but it will have to serve great food with a home like atmosphere.  We are leaving in a couple of years and we will miss all the great restaurants in our neighborhood.
