What Would YOU Do?
I don’t know if you remember the series that shared a similar title (maybe the same title). The premise was that actors would present a non-PC or unethical situation and while being watched on hidden camera, some people displayed incredibly ethical, caring and compassionate behavior in response to the actors’ scenarios.

Now, where I’m going with this is real estate related. We have our ethics that we are sworn to abide by. Many of us have even stricter personal ethics that make our Realtor® ethics seem minimal to us. Have you thought about how a COVID situation could impact your own standards, simply because of your own personal beliefs?
This situation is purely fictional but, it is based on something that did happen in a totally unrelated profession. Regardless, I would love to see how others would respond to this situation.
It’s really very simple - You are the listing agent, showing homes to dear friends who are your buyers. Two days after showing 4 luxury listings, your buyers let you know that they just tested positive for COVID. While they were asymptomatic, they wanted to let you know. You just happened to have just been tested and were negative.

However, you did have a listing agent who accompanied you through one of the listings that you showed two days prior. Do you share that your clients both tested positive for COVID or do you keep this your little secret? Or, do you believe that because they are positive but, asymptomatic, they are not contagious?
Further, you dined out for lunch and your friends don’t want you to notify the diner where you had lunch, of their positive results. Do you notify them anyway? You know the owners of the diner who, coincidentally, spent time talking to you and your friends at your table. Of course, during the time in the restaurant, no masks were worn by the COVID-positive buyers but, were worn by the wait staff and the owner.
What would you do?
