Snow Days are Still Snow Days

Snow Days are Still Snow Days

Despite what the now virtual attendance, that I like to refer to as "Zoom school," being mandatory since the pandemic darkened our doors, snow days are still snow days.  Prince William County Public Schools, with the forecast of snow on December 16, 2020 canceled VIRTUAL school.  Let me repeat that.  Prince William County canceled VIRTUAL SCHOOL due to inclement weather.

What the **** is going on?  When is someone going to wake me from the ludricous nonsense happening around me.  Each day I think I understand our new normal, only to learn that I don't.

Unfortunately, the only thing I do still know for sure is the sun rises in the east, sets in the west and moves along the southern sky, making northern exposure driveways like mine a bear after even a lightweight snow event.  The exposure of one's home and driveway are important details.  Of course, nothing really gets canceled in real estate unless it is major in Virginia, so I had my lawn guy come and chisel me out.

I fail to understand this snow day decision when the students are so far behind.

Hello Chris Ann - I do remember when I first moved to the District in the mid 1980s and was told it rarely snowed in Washington DC but when it did - watch out - the city shuts down.

I witnessed that the Virginia and Maryland suburbs acted like it was Southern California on a rainy day --- a truly OMG moment.  When I showed up at my office, I was one of the few who arrived and it became a day to go to the movies.

As for your example of snow days - what can we say???  It's 2020 after all.  Let the madness continue, I feel were nowhere close to the finish line where absurdity continues to thrive.

Hi Chris Ann- unless there was a power and/or internet outage, I have no reason I can see why VIRTUAL classes were canceled.

When we first started looking at homes in South Florida we learned that we did not want a home whose back faced west.

Good morning Chris Ann Cleland that's funny. I hadn't thought about it, but you're right. Does the snow keep you  from making your way to your computer in the living room? LOL. Only in 2020

Chris Ann, I cannot, or will not, say what I am truly thinking about the cancellation of Internet School due to snow.

I will leave it at ....

We cannot fix STUPID.

And this is coming from powers that be in the school district.

Beautiful scene to look from inside with a fire going. Terrible to venture outside or stuck in the snow.

Chris Ann, WOW...I understand when traditional school is cancelled due to extreme weather due to the risk of travel due to road conditions but if you are in vrual school mode already in your home I don't see the logic in their decision.

I am sure the decision was made based on a group of students whose individual circumstances are impacted by inclement weather and with the no child left behind programs that are in place they basically prohibit classes from being held in any form.
