Gaithersburg Holiday Closures and Recycling Schedule

City facilities are operating on normal business hours, with the exception of the following:
- The Aquatic Center is closed.
- The Activity Center closes at 12 p.m.
- Recycling will be collected as scheduled.
Friday, December 25
- All City facilities are closed.
- Winter Lights Festival is closed.
- Recycling scheduled for collection will be collected Saturday, December 26.
- Loose leaf collection is suspended.
- The Police Department Administrative Offices are closed. Police patrol will remain on duty. For emergencies please call 911. For non-emergencies, please dial 301-279-8000 for dispatch.
Thursday, December 31

- This is the final evening of the Winter Lights Festival.
Friday, January 1
- All City facilities are closed.
- Recycling scheduled for collection will be collected Saturday, January 2.

Recycling Information
The collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Friday, December 25, 2020, will take place the following Saturday, December 26. The collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Wednesday, January 1, 2020, will take place the following Saturday, January 2. This includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and commingled materials, as well as brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings, picked up by the City’s recycling contractor. Stay up to date on recycling & yard waste service changes by subscribing to notifications from the City’s new Recycle Coach app.
Loose leaf collection concludes on December 31. There will be no collection on December 25. All areas will be collected the preceding Monday through Thursday. After the collection period ends, leaves can be placed in biodegradable brown paper bags & left curbside with other recyclables on your weekly collection day. Click here for more information.

Regular trash & garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors. Please contact your HOA or your private contractor regarding the holiday collection schedule for these materials.
