I am sure that you did a great job of being Joseph in that Christmas musical. If people are too hung up on being perfect they are in for a rough life. I don't know anyone that is perfect.

Good morning, Rocky. A wonderful message for the Christmas season. I think life would be much easier on many people if they let go of the idea that they had to be the perfect Christian, parent, brother, sister, etc. Perfection is simply unatainable... besides who can really define it?

There's no such thing as perfection, just striving for excellence. (I heard that somewhere, not sure who said it, but it seems true to me!)
The interesting thing is that there are Christian churches who make their followers believe there ARE specific things that must be done in order to be forgiven, etc.

Yes Kat Palmiotti and I am so saddened by misguided "leaders" that teach their congregations that. They get stuck in Leviticus and completely forget Matthew and especially where Christ said "this is the new covenant"

Rocky there was only one perfect person to walk this earth, and he was hung on a cross for it.

I'm happy Kathy Streib featured this today. I might have missed it completely, and that would have been a shame. Thank you for a lovely post.

Good afternoon Rocky Dickerson ,
I was glad to see Kathy Streib featured it in her "Ah-ha" moments for the week! What a great post to share especially at this time of the year. Hope you had a joyful Christmas as we head down the week to celebrating a new year!

Oh my gosh, my first thought when the woman said she wasn't a perfect Christian was, "WAIT! There is no perfect Christian!"
You nailed your advice, Rocky and look what came to you as a result. You don't think anyone but, Jesus had anything to do with guiding you to write that and the local church phoning you to be Joseph, do you?! WOW! I have Godbumps!
And, the WWJD - too funny but, my mind went where you said a lot of people fall - to the, "I am not sure what he would do - I need to pray about this!!"

Well, 'Joe' there are no perfect people only those that think they are and they are thinking wrong, The best we can hope to be is more good than bad.

Funny thing was when the church called me Debe Maxwell, CRS and asked me to play Joseph, I told them there is no way I can play a 15 year old. They were doing a play called "Word On The Street" where the Joseph and Mary story takes place today and I just had to pass for my 30s.

Love love love this post! I openly admit I am not perfect. There was only one perfect person that ever walked the face of the earth and he was crucified. I don't look good in that pose! I can relate to Joseph though. However, this year, my role was a bit different . . . aka Santa. :)

Love your perspective Rocky!
Joseph wasn’t perfect and he wasn’t the son of God. However he WAS a man that went out of his way to love and forgive. Maybe you could do that too. Perhaps you can’t be Jesus, but you can be Joseph
