Every day, every moment, we have the gift of free choice. For instance, every day you can come up with reasons to be happy or unhappy. Like the road sign pictured above, you can go right or left to a destination you may choose.
What many forget is that you can make a U-Turn and go back also. Likewise, you have made a choice even if you chose not to decide. Most likely you will follow the herd; and let someone else make the choice for you.
At this point, you have forfeited the gift of free choice. However, you can re-choose. The door to a new choice is always open.
Yesterday afternoon, I had a long talk with my neighbor who could not make up her mind about spending Christmas with her family. She wanted to discuss the pros and cons of going to stay at her relatives home.
Some of the family is flying in from out of state. She wants to be with family, and she wants to safeguard her health as well.
I listened to her and said, "trust your own judgment!" Listen to your gut, that inner voice, trust it. After some quiet deliberation, she asked me if we were going to stay home. I said yes!
She smiled and said: "I have a bottle of Champagne, we can all (neighbors) bring out a glass outside, make a toast and celebrate on Christmas Day! How nice that we are all well and happy!"
"There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them."
~ Denis Waitley

Every single day, when we awake, we meditate, and we chose to be happy. We share our happiness and our appreciation with everyone we meet... Like Groucho Marx, we know we have that one day, that one moment...
"I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
~ Groucho Marx
"Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice."
~ Stephen Covey
"Everything that is happening at this moment is a result of the choices you've made in the past."
~ Deepak Chopra
Remind yourself that you hold the power and the gift of free choice. A myriad of possibilities await. Trust your judgment, what is right for you is perfect, regardless of what someone else thinks.
Allow the world to live as it chooses, and allow yourself to live as you choose." ~ Richard Bach
