A New Headset for your Cell Phone

Over the past years, I have purchased several headsets, and never really found one I liked.    For years I used Jawbone, but they lasted about three months, and thought it wasn't worth the money paid for them.   So for years now, have not had a headset, but rethinking it after I heard about this one.

Aeropex (Aftershokz) offers this flexible headset that fits around the back of your neck, and over the top of your ears.   It lays on your earbone, not in your ear.   It has bone conduction technology.   It is easy to hear and can wear them for most of the day and still comfortable.

I bought it at Best Buy, and was about $160.   I tried to upload the photo, but cannot.   Here is the link to this product.   It charges very fast, and retains the charge all day.

Interesting information, Joan. Thanks for sharing it. Thus far, I've been able to avoid any kind of headset... I hate anything in or near my ears.

Nina Hollander I heard some studies out again about the possibility of brain tumors from our cell phones, so did some more research.

Joan Cox I was aware of those studies... so mostly use speaker phone at home and hands free in the car. So the phone is not near my head very much. Besides, only the good die young... so I'm pretty much immune at this point! :)

Nina Hollander I have tried using the speaker, but the people I am talking to, say it sounds like I am in a box and difficult to hear, so stopped that.   Had to find a different way.   I too have hands free in the car.

Good morning Joan Cox very interesting product. For years I used a headset reccomended by truckers. It even has a boom mike that goes in front of your mouth (because that is where your voice is it's absolute clearest) and it was noise cancelling so clients only heard me and not any surrounding noise. You reminded me that it is time to get a new one!

Rocky Dickerson I do think many have gotten away from these.  Some iPhone users wear the buds, but after a day, those are uncomfortable.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I think your girlfriend would like it.  There is a less expensive one too - I think around $119.

And may I ask you my friend what do you use the headset for that you spent more than $100 for it. 😄

Maria Gilda Racelis it really helps when you have to spend a lot of time on the phone.  Also nice to listen to music while cleaning the house!

I have an older model of these headphones and they work as advertised. The new version looks to be a welcomed UPDATE. Thank you for sharing Joan Cox

I confess that I likely don't use my cell phone as much as many (most?) readers here; and not a fan of a full headset.  For my cell phone, I use a high-end Jabra that fits in one ear with a retaining loop that goes over the ear: light, not really noticeable, and excellent sound, both incoming and out.  I use a Plantronics wireless system for my office, which is more of a boom mic; and, like the Jabra, has a behind-the-ear piece to hold it in place.

Jim, sounds like you have it covered.  I just found a headset I really like, and wanted to share.   I have had Jabra too, but it broke within 3 months.
