Douglas County has been Approved to Open Restaurants & Gyms

Good News!  Counties around the Denver metro area have applied for approval to open restaurants, two movie theaters, and gyms to 25% capacity.   Douglas County will be the first, and now has 55 restaurants and many gyms are back open!  Jefferson and Arapahoe Counties have applied and are awaiting the results.

 

In order to be able to open, the county had to have stable numbers or decrease in both cases and hospitalizations.   This is part of the 5 Star program through the CDPHE, and each business must go through this program to get approved.

 

To see what businesses are now open, here is an interactive map.   I know I plan to check this map out and go out to eat again!

Great news! I'm so happy for the businesses that were able to remain open or recently re-open. This pandemic has been so devastating for them beyond the obvious health issues.

Nina Hollander our Governor shut the restaurants down when the cases started spiking - about 30-45 days ago.   Glad to see it is opening back up!

We started out at 25% except for outside back in May and went to 50% in Sept.  Then the new spike hit and 25% is the new norm.

Ed Silva that is good for your restaurants.  Our numbers went way high, so everything got shut down again except for carry out.   So glad we are able to at least open for some again.

It was odd not having restaurants open - we typically like to eat out on Christmas Eve as a family, but instead we had a new tradition of a home cooked meal that we enjoyed together!  Our restuarants are supposed to open January 4th.

I still don't quite understand how closing down businesses and taking away people's livelihood is supposed to help overcome a virus and I would bet that those that are requiring the lockdowns and such are not following their own commands.

Abby Stiller the news said this morning, our "level" is being reduced from red to orange in the near future, so hopefully all the restaurants will be able to open here soon.   (and stay that way....)   Missed seeing you though!!!
