December Decorating Challenge - All About the Trees!
I am a big lover of the celebration of Christmas. As the song proclaims, it's the most wonderful time of the year! We love hosting holiday gatherings and for those, the house has to be decorated to the 9's!
I love having a tree in every room where guests will be. Have you ever noticed that people either stand around the food or the trees when you have a holiday party? Well, sure, they may go elsewhere but, the trees seem to be the 'draw' during celebrations. SO, the trees get my attention when it comes to decorating...well, the entryway and the trees!!
Our entryway always has a tree of some kind - this is what we had to greet guests (mostly delivery people!!) this year.
The foyer welcomes guests all year long so, I decorate a large foyer chest for the season - every season! Christmas is my favorite time to decorate the foyer chest.

Through the foyer to the family room, of course, the stockings are always hung by the chimney with care! Mr. & Mrs. Santa always enjoy a delicious glass of eggnog while filling the stockings for the humans and the fur babies! Gracie is the first in line!

The family room tree is usually the tree that is the backdrop for many photos when we have our holiday gatherings. This year, not so much! This tree has a lot of history - from White House ornaments to travel and sports ornaments and the angel (near the top!) is a gift that a patient gave me 30 years ago!

Here are a few of my favorite ornaments (separate post to come with more of my faves)...

Top left: One of my favorite travel ornaments (Savannah, GA) - probably because it contains houses!
Bottom left: We have several different cardinals on our trees - they are our state bird - and I think this is my favorite one.
Top & bottom right: White House ornamets. The bottom right was a gift this year from a client who knew I collected them and was missing my anniversary year!
Here is this year's friend group shot (minus one who could not attend that night)...the only pre-Christmas festivities we had this year. As you can see, I made face sheilds for everyone so we didn't have to wear masks!
The play/game room tree was in our foyer/dining area at our previous home and we are really loving seeing this one more in our day-to-day lives. In the foyer at the old house, we saw it each day but, not as much as now. We had to change out every strand of lights this year, which was a BIG deal! I'm happy that it will be a few years before we have to do that again!
This tree is more playful - orginally was only for teal and chartreuse ornaments and decorations but, this year with the blue light addition, we sprinkled a few cardinals throughout the tree. The red really pops against the white tree.

*We think Gracie may be a bit of a camera ham! ❤️ that sweet girl!
We used to have Panther tailgating events (for out-of-town games) at the house and one of the TVs that had the game playing was the sunroom. We bought a Carolina Panther color (as close as we could find!!) tree and decorated it only in red and brown ornaments.
This year, the tree is on our screened porch. We're looking forward to seeing our decorations from a boat next year - this tree is sure to shine on the lake! This year, we added some gold to it but, we're thinking of making it a lake/water theme next year. In 2021, I will be on a mission for nautical ornaments for next year's tree!
Well, that was a fun photo shoot and I thank Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker and Carol Williams for your wonderful December challenge. We still have one day to get our posts in! WooHoo!
