As I have said before, many people over estimate what they can accomplish in a year and they underestimate what they can accomplish in 20. Looking at monumental leaps in huge chunks is an easy recipe for failure.
Now I posted recently a simple saying that I am focusing my 2021 around. In return, I got a number of replies attacking what I had said as foolish. I ended up deleting that post just to get rid of all their negativity. Instead, I am going to illustrate it here so that it makes sense.
What happens if you only improve 1% per week? Some people scoff at that idea. They think that 1% won’t matter at all. How foolish for such a small goal. And yet, here is what would really happen. Let’s say that you only spoke to 100 people about real estate in the first week of the year. If you only improve 1%, in your second week, you contact 101 people.
Let’s say you take off 2 weeks each year. If you only work 50 weeks, at the end of the year you will have improved???? No, not 50%, because of compounding percentages, you actually improved over 62%. Now instead of contacting 5000 people during the year, you contacted 6446 people. Basically you ended up with 28% higher results.
Now what if you applied that percentage of improvement to fields such as “How many people do I need to speak to in order to generate a listing?”. Keep improving there as well and suddenly your bottom line of increased closed transactions may go up 40 or 50%.
They may sound like small insignificant steps, and still they add up to huge results over time.
