PLATES EVEN IN THE BATHROOM

By
Home Stager with Salazar Staging & Custom Interiors

I love thinking a little outside the box when it comes to wall decor.  One of the things that come in such a huge variety and address a lot of wall design, are plates.   I would love to see different uses of plates, in any area of the house.   I put these light weight plates up with velcro - that velcro can also hold heavier objects, just be sure to use the industrial strength!

Very nice!  In this situations I wouldn't call them plates... I would call them art!

Hello Home!

Melody, this looks warm and cozy! Never thought of putting plates over the tub (that's creative!), but here is a plate idea for the dining room. Plates and ribbon is all it takes:

And I did think to hang a tray in this bathroom between the sinks:

Great look with the plates in the dining room.  Please share how you did that!  I really liked this look.  Nice color for the bathroom tray as well.  Looks like this was a somewhat oddly shaped bathroom and the mirrors are overpowering with the small white faucet handles.  Was this house vacant or occupied?  It's clear you had a challenge but came up with a clever way to tie in both the dark and light colors they used.

Thanks for sharing,

Melody

Hello Home!

Hi!

To make the dining room plate display:

You'll need 3 sets of dinner, salad and saucer plates and plate hangers for each.

Hang the plates where you want them (with nails). Take the bottom 2 plates down and their nails (you just hung them so you'll know where the nail holes are).

You'll need about about 3 - 4 yards of ribbon. This is satin 1 1/2" ribbon used.

Guesstimate how long you want each piece (from where the bow goes to under the bottom plate) and cut.

Tie three bows from the rest of the ribbon.

Place the top of the long piece of ribbon where you want them on the wall (centered above the plates), and nail them where you want the bow, then on the inside fold, hiding the nail, nail the bow to the wall in the center of the bow.

Find the holes for the plate hangers under the ribbon and poke holes through the ribbon and into the wall.

Rehang the plates.

Viola! Chic and cheap wall art!

Yes, the bathroom above had an extra set of lighting (had never seen that before!)

The house was vacant- we probably should have suggested and installed new faucets- but if you'd seen all the improvements to the rest of the house, you'd see how the faucets were a minor issue :o)

Also, the garden tub in the same room had brass fixtures, and so did the stand-in shower.

I brought in the mirrors to sell with the house and the finish (not seen in the picture) is oil rubbed bronze with gold leaf overlay and does blend with the fixtures, in person.

Thank you for your encouragement and have fun staging!!!

~Leslie

My builders hate anything on the wall - how do you remove the velcro?  We use plate stretchers in occupied homes.
